I spent all spring reading about how a woman changing her mind with her lover = bad writing

The Walking Dead weekend on AMC should be good. I am interested to see clips from season three and the The Talking Dead.

Watching S1 for the first time (damn you AMC I am supposed to be studying). There seems to be a lot more character drama, which I didn't think was possible. Although I respect Darrabont I can see why they wanted a change.

Did Carol grow younger from from s1 to s2?

I don't even remember what happened in the finale other than a burning barn full of walkers and people starting to turn on Rick at the very end.
i vaguely remember them trying to play GTA on the farm by wasting lead on zombies then suddenly deciding "oh right, it's time to haul ass"

Did they try to hide from the zombies by being still and quiet?

^^^ Yea when they had a herd of walkers on them that just seemed to magically appear. Then Sophia gets lost in the woods because a walker tried to get her under the car.

Anybody see the scene on last night's Talking Dead? Some seriously badass zombie killing by a new character.

Lori and Carl shockingly NOT nominated for 2012 Emmy awards (http://www.emmys.com/sites/emmys.com...ss-Release.pdf).

Kind of sad I missed out on this epic thread while the show was on even though there is a huge amount of nittery ITT. I agree the show has a lot of forced drama, like Lori being an idiot and flipping her car, magical materializing Carl, but most of the inconsistencies are pretty minimal and don't really take away from the enjoyment of the show. Stuff like them not syphining gas, the writers can't possibly imagine every possible plan every audience member would do and explain in detail why they are not doing it. There is a very brief amount of time that a show/movie has to deal with the telling of a story and I think it's important to just suspend your disbelief a little. Like if every inconsistency was fixed does the show get significantly better? If you say no then maybe you just aren't into zombie movies. Every great show has consistency problems, bad acting, Poorly motivated characters but when you like the overall concept you tend to let things slide.

Other than some questionable Lori stuff and magical Carl there is very little from the first two seasons that I hated. This isn't like the wire where they are depicting team of highly trained officers who know how to implement a complex plan. These are average people, and average people tend to do dumb things. I don't think it really takes away from the believability of the show. And the show has a ton of great scenes that do not seem to get discussed ITT.

Spoiler:
The sofie zombie reveal is one of my all time favorite scenes in a tv series. Even if the search was drawn out and the conclusion somewhat predictable.

If you don't like zombie movies/tv that's fine but the creators have done a great job with their source material and this is evidenced by the fact that there isn't really any other zombie drama that can compare to TWD.

J.L. Bourne's two Day by Day Armageddon books are both excellent and highly recommended. Possibly the best of the genre in any format.

Yeah, I can sort of understand why people hate on this show, but at the end of the day it's a show about a zombie apocalypse, it was never going to be an epic character piece. As far as making a show about a zombie apocalypse goes, this is about as well as anyone could do it. It's entertaining and full of suspense and drama.

AMC has a pretty good triumvirate of shows going on right now - they have TWD for pure drama, Mad Men for artistic value, and Breaking Bad for a blend of the two. If you're able to see TWD for what it is then it's a great show; if you expect it to be more like some other show you also like, then you're gonna be disappointed.
