Give the old guy a distraction, make him drunk, something to explain this nonsense.

They could've had more fun with the Church scene. Catholicism is the ultimate zombie religion. Not only is Jesus a zombie, he also acts as our human, as we, the zombies, eat his flesh and drink his blood.

Instead we get the hero's monologue, which draws heavily from the big book of movie cliches. Rule: when a hero appeals to God in a dire situation, he must start off with "Look, I know we haven't been on the best of terms..."

I think I'll keep watching and treat the show as subtle farce, like a couple of the writers are secretly goofing the genre but the rest don't notice.

Here's hoping this inspires a Left 4 Dead movie or series with Zoey, Francis, Bill and the black guy (his name escapes me atm)................one that doesn't suck of course. I know that's asking a lot of a video game to film/tv adaptation, but crazier things have happened?

Also, can't believe no one has blamed Obama as the reason Walking Dead is so bad

lol @ the Looney Tunes analogy. so true.

re: the traffic jam and cars piled up everywhere, meh, I think you can imagine how that happens. giant traffic jam, scared people start to panic, a few crazy people start driving crazy, people follow suit, and bazinga! Thunderdome

this...

marathon-ed S1 with a few friends. One girl only made it for the last 3 episodes and she was like, "Where are all the zombies, I thought this was a zombie show?" There were like 4 zombie encounters in the entirety of those 3 episodes.

Also, holy mother of god at the number of commercials in the S2 premiere. I swear, they just filmed a regular 45-min episode and threw in an extra half-hour of commercials.

World War Z is being made right now and if that does huge profits i would expect to see a bunch more big(gish) budget zombie movies.

I have really high hopes for World War Z, great book and Brad Pitt rarely stars in a bad movie.

I DVR'ed it and I still got annoyed as hell when I had to fast-forward every (and I say this literally) 2 minutes. I couldn't imagine watching the live airing.

The biggest thing that consistently makes no sense to me is how flippantly they bathe in the blood and guts of the zombies. If you can be infected by a bite or a scratch, clearly it's a virus transmitted in blood or bodily fluids, but they are rolling around in contaminated goo without really much care or concern.
This! If they had an open wound (like that black guy did when the zombie was on top of him) then they would be ****ed.

Not to mention in season 1 they had to WEAR the blood and guts of the zombies in order for them not to smell them. In this premier episode all they did was hide under cars. The zombies would DEFINITELY smell them. Not to mention the black guy who was bleeding everywhere. Lots of holes in this episode.

And who gives a **** about the RV. There were like 100 cars/trucks/vans/etc on the highway. Just grab one of those.

And where could the girl have possibly gone? Seriously. She knew how to get back to everyone else on the highway but she just decides to run off somewhere??? Even if she was being chased she could still run back to everyone else at the highway. Not like the zombies are track runners. They seemed quick in this episode, but not fast and athletic enough to dodge sticks/etc on route to catching someone.

The writers blow...

While I agree the writers blow and the series is full of plot holes, it would be very easy for a scared child who is alone in the middle of the woods, to lose her bearings and not be able to find her way back to the road.

She went a pretty good distance in (and downhill to boot) and she's likely stressed/freaked over being chased by the zombies and being lost and alone.

And one more thing, of all the dumb characters, Shane is the most tilting. You couldn't save your partner and told his wife that he was dead and later started banging her. Eh, ok. But then her husband shows up and obviously she goes back to him and stops banging you. Duh. And she is a little angry at you, so you try to rape her and then after all that you can't figure out why Lori is being a bitch towards you? Yeah that seems accurate.

oh wow this could have been epic.

chick who just lost daughter is at cross, giving speech

rick comes by, viciously knocks jesus off cross to the floor

chick OMG WHAT ARE YOU DOING

rick: do you believe he rose from the dead? because that makes him a zombie. Kill em all.

obviously it could be written better than that, but i like where mikechike is going with this

re: WWZ
loved the book, really concerned about making it a movie. I feel this would actually be a better tv series, with each episode focusing on a chapter or two. No idea how they'll do it justice in a 2 hour movie.

This isn't all that accurate. In the episode you are talking about, they were out in the open walking along right in the middle of all the zombies, the blood and guts was just to get the zombies to think that they were zombies. There's no indication that zombies can track and detect humans they aren't already aware of by smell.

The zombies were smelling them and staring at them in that episode. Thats why they got ambushed when it started to rain. The zombies smelled them.

Yes. The zombies that were already looking right at them figured out they weren't zombies when the smell washed away. That doesn't mean that the zombies could tell that a human is nearby that they can't see just by smell.

Zombies would be better if they were ****able. They need a mindless "transitional" zombie. It should take at least a few months to decompose imo.
