The average viewer for these shows nowadays is about 50 years old and female. So just bet on a guy who's at least decent-looking and sings in a very dated style. Or an average--looking woman they can identify with. Anyone who's current and could actually sell records to young people has no chance to win.

Agree about Alicia. I don't find her likeable at all. Miley is a surprise though, I like her energy.

I remember Sundance Head from Idol way way back. Still got some killer chops.

New season tonight....Miley is out, Gwen is back...

Man, Stephanie Rice blew me away. She's a 27 year-old pastor's daughter who's family disowned her when she came out at 18. She sang Kelly Clarkson's "Piece By Piece," a song about father abandonment....and it slayed me. the pain was palpable. How nay parent can disown his own child is beyond my understanding.

I also liked the girl who sang the slowed-down Jewel song...great control.

Why is it I always love the auditions rounds ten times more than the rest of the show?

I watch the blinds then end up skipping half of the rest of the show picking and choosing to watch 3-4 artists perform.
