Does anyone know how the show's been doing numbers-wise? Seems like almost nobody here is watching, such a shame because the show is GOAT.

Is it just me or did Dark Coop seem way more... humane in the last ep? He showed more emotion than usual while talking to Jeffries, and seemed almost fatherly with Richard.

Can't believe it's all almost over... been such a great ride.

RIP Margaret

Traditional ratings are very bad but apparently that's not too important for a model like Showtime's and their spin is that they had their biggest ever subscriber spike with the series and more people are streaming Twin Peaks than other Showtime shows. That's good to hear because with traditional ratings something like Ray Donovan is more popular (there is some conflicted part of me who wants more success for the show who still wish it had been Netflix or maybe HBO after GOT but of course only if Lynch had the same kind of freedom.)

Even bigwig Les Moonves recently singled it out as a CBS moneymaking factor:

Quote:
CBS Chief Executive Leslie Moonves said in the announcement that the new "Twin Peaks" show "boosted OTT subscriptions dramatically" for the Showtime streaming service,
With the early hype and coverage I also think more than any other Showtime show that they've been able to sell it worldwide where they aren't present themselves.

Like to SKY channels in many places or HBO Nordic here.

But of course, something like this, avantgarde art really, like never seen on tv ever, can't really be a big hit? And it's also my impression, that apart from large groups just quickly deciding, this just isn't for them, a group of either casual fans who sort of remember the old Twin Peaks vibe fondly or hardcore fans of the aspects of the old show that you certainly didn't get in the beginning this time around, more or less despise the new series.

It certainly has fans who absolute love it also though. I've been hopelessly living and breathing it to such an extend that I've even been seeking out and lurking other places (apart from reddit of course, neogaf or hipinion forums) where discussions are lively and it definitely has life out there, twitter buzz also at times (though now GOT has totally taken over obviously), and large part of these people seem to be more and more convinced that this is the best thing ever.

Reviews have somehow also almost never been outright bad and often very good culminating with part 8 being hailed as a groundbreaking masterpiece many places.

For me, this is simply 18 hours from one of the greatest filmmakers and I really do believe that it will be remembered or even canonized as a unique masterpiece the coming years with more and more people gradually seeking it out, despite what I would say, with the original+the movie, a very steep getting into it or learning curve if you will, and sometime in that process quitting it.

What was up with that girl crawling on the floor and screaming at the end?

Episode 8 had 246,000 viewers in the US.

Difficult to say.

Some people are trying to connect directly to Dougie Cooper crawling earlier.

Maybe indirectly there is something to that on top of also connecting with everything else we've been seeing and sensing from the Road House. Of course it's not a coincidence that they're both crawling in this part, but it's probably not something very concrete...

But Dougie crawls to stick a fork in it/his existence. She crawls, is ignored, (with her removal from waiting for someone you could even say that her particular existence this very moment has been attacked but now I'm really rambling) and without finding resolution to what the **** is going on (like we haven't with all the Road House scenes and what it show us of the current state of Twin Peaks) she screams. Maybe if next part starts with Dougie/Cooper dead or somewhere else entirely (1 of the lodges?) this was a very nice lead in??

I wouldn't even be surprised if what's soon will be Chantal and Hutch (not)torturing Dougie's lifeless body. No fun (or screams) for them but they're on the way, remember.

As an almost total wild card the actress who plays the girl is also voice actor on an animated (kids?) show Steven Universe. Her character both here, and on that show, is called Ruby. I would not be shocked if Lynch has caught that show with his young daughter or something and found a crazy idea/connection/something he liked, and that plays in also... but I know nothing about Steven Universe...

Finally caught up with the last three episodes! Really good but still really frustrating, too. Sarah Palmer, holy crap! Loved seeing Andy in the White Lodge. And it was awesome seeing Ed and Norma finally together!

There's a theory that Audrey is dreaming/in a coma...her scenes seem dream-like and they never actually leave the house...

Except she referenced someone we have actually seen in the real world now (Chuck) and people others in the Roadhouse booth have mentioned (Tina, Billy). Also I think the mention in the first scene that her marriage to Charlie is based on a contract of some kind and doesn't seem to be traditional seems like a real world thing rather than the product of a comatose dream.

Another popular theory is Audrey is schizophrenic and Charlie is actually her shrink roll playing her husband to help her.

The wildest theory I've seen is that Audrey is dead and her spirit is trapped in the wood table at the roadhouse booth we keep revisiting, somehow listening and responding to the conversations people have in that booth.

This is abstract enough to be Lynchian, fits the (through lodge mechanics) spirit-within-wood mythology of the show, and adds some plot weight to all the otherwise seemingly pointless roadhouse booth conversation scenes. Not sure how Charlie fits in, but otherwise kind of a brilliant theory, really. Wish it was mine.

I think it's all pretty simple

Spoiler:
Josie Packard is trapped in a wooden knob somewhere and this is all her dream

o wait
Spoiler:

She's actually still trapped in that knob isn't she? Poor Josie.

COOOOOOOP!

What I'm confused about is that Coop knows who Janey and Sonny Jim are. He knows that Dougie's boss has a gun.

How does he know all this?

He wasn't "in" Dougie all this time - only since he escaped the Black Lodge and came out through the electrical outlet (LOL only a David Lynch joint would this sentence make sense) So how does he know all these people?

What does he pull from his head and give to the One Armed Man? I assume the "seed" he's talking about is to grow another Dougie so that he can return to his family...

How long has Diane been a tulpa? I assume that ":-) all" meant kill them all?

I assume Audrey has been in a coma and in her dream world since the bank explosion? Bad Cooper impregnated her way back then?

Seeing her do the Audrey Dance was amazing.
