at the best of times my judgment is a little off. at the moment i'm on a soul crushing downswing, no sleep, too much alcohol, heartbreak, massive weight gain, artistic failure... so my judgment is skewed. but this seems like some of the best television i've seen in a while!

i just finished episode 3 and i love the insanity.

I'm not sure why, but I like the pacing of non US shows much better.

probably because the shows are paced according to the story, as opposed to the short attention spans of americans

Not reading the last page to avoid spoilers, but wow I loved season 1. Some of the best tv I've seen in awhile... probably since River which was also BBC.

I also thought the end was a bit telegraphed, I wasn't 100% what it would be but it was clear he was up to no good. I don't think that hurt the show at all, and I don't think it was really meant to be a surprise.

The only thing I didn't like and thought was a bit of a cop out was

Finished watching season 2, haven't seen the first season. It was a bit of a mess. There's some good stuff in there but also some unconvincing characters and relationships, and too many plot-convenient coincidences.

It was worth watching because of the surprising interconnectedness of all the characters and how far the writers were willing to go with each character's craziness. Nobody is a totally sane character. It does have problems.
