I really don't understand your high hopes for Cochran.
So far He is painted as the goofy lol contestant of the season...
He's part of the infamous line of Philolip, Fabio, Coach, Shambo, ...

Yea I was surprised it was between Cochran and Semhar instead of Dawn and Semhar.

Totally agree, hiding the tattoos is just bad.
He could've easily made up a story that he only used his connections from his uncle (I would even go a bit further away with the relation status like third cousin or something) to get his video to the right people which actually might've happened but he's not a fan of Russell's play. The problem is he has to be very convincing.
But either way, the right approach would've been tattoo altering or removal. He's between a rock and a hard place now.

Is saying you have the same last name that hard of a sell? Is it that uncommon?

In daily life, probably not, in Reality TV world of Survivor, that's no coincidence. It's not like Smith or Williams.

I do apologize for this out of topic question but i am stunned lately in Survivor seasons by the number of contestants who share their deep beliefs in God.

1-Is it so common in the US society (According to Survivor, 1 person out of 16 is putting every life decision in the hands of God) ?

2-Are muslim community a bit upset that no muslim is painted in the show ?

1. It's pretty common, but not sure on percentage
2. There is only a very small muslim community in the US

I had never heard it before. Not to mention, i can't think of two cast members with the same last name that have ever played the game. Way too big of a coincidence for Hantz to be the first. Plus he's from Texas. There is exactly 0% chance i would believe that he isn't related to Russell, others like Albert and Sophie are gonna feel the same for sure. Whether they would care he's related to Russell is another story

My initial impressions of Upolu tribe:

Coach - looked like a more mature, laid back version of himself. Realized he might be in trouble, so organized a majority 5 person alliance. We'll see if it holds up, but overall I think Coach is in a better position than I initially thought.

Rick - Seems like a likable enough guy, and is in the 5 person alliance. If he can make it to the merge, maybe he can coast a bit. Has the potential to be the next Bob, but I doubt it.

Albert - Stud. Not overly concerned at this point about the lack of an edit so far, but will keep in mind during the next few episodes. Right now it seems to be the only problem.

Sophie - I have to say I was impressed with how she seemed to analyze situations without being the person who talks too much and shoots herself in the foot. Not sure if she can keep it up for the whole game, we'll see. Also in the 5 person alliance, so all in all, one of my most initially underrated players.

Brandon - I don't mind if he is the next Matt Elrod, but gamewise I don't think he is taking the best approach with this Hantz/tatoo situation. The longer he goes without dealing with it, the messier it's going to eventually become.

Edna - Was my pre-season sleeper. Bonded a bit with Coach, and doesn't seem to be a control freak yet. She's in an ok spot, all in all I think people are underrating her.

Christine - immediately opposes the returning player on her tribe, then starts searching for an idol. Reminds me of Kristina from last season. She is gone soon.

Stacey - Meh. She hasn't gone NaonKa on us yet, but I have a feeling it's coming.

Mikayla - Kinda reminded me of a younger, hotter version of Stephenie LaGrossa. I dont like her as much as most people ITT yet, but we'll see.

yeah.. last season you were also pretty good at knowing the correct pre-season power ranking AFTER the first episode. why not do something different for the next season and actually be a part of the power ranking?

Cochran is doing fine, self-deprecating personalities usually do well in a group of attention whores. Ozzy obviously doesn't like Cochran mainly because he's worried that he's going to get outfoxed and look dumb. I like Ozzy fine I guess, and it was fun fifty seasons ago when he was pinwheeling around everywhere like Mowgli, but jfc did Ozzy always talk like a scientologist fortune cookie? Watching him try to play the part of village elder is going to get exhausting in a hurry, though 3:1 he can successfully hypnotise Dawn if he ever tries again.

I think Edna the asian anesthesiologist means well but is unnatural socially and her (not bad) face is as naturally expressive as ****ing c3po. Jim came off like a dope.

Semhar wasn't half as much of a disaster as the people Survivor usually casts in the Semhar role--if they ran this season a thousand times there's no way that she goes out first more often than cuckoo Dawn. And I don't care how much Semhar's eyes make her look the she was born in the cabinet of Dr Caligari, because, like soncy said: great tits.

my favorite part was definitely when papa bear said that he came out to "help the police officers behind him."

Phenomenal.

Disagree with your statement about Dawn and Semhar. We saw Dawn at her absolute worse (I hope) and she still didn't even hit the radar. Semhar was a disaster, though I grant the nice tits thing.

eh you might be right, I didn't watch the cast interviews this year so I'm starting behind, but Semhar struck me as more likable and less tone deaf than the parade of Semhars who have preceeded her: Spoken word artist! Hair like a thousand tornadoes! Early ouster! Racist ban!

Dawn might turn out to be elite Easter Island level unflappable, but my one episode takeaway was

Speaking in terms of finishing position, that's a pretty powerful line to be a part of. It even includes a winner.

Cochran wins for sure.

Alright maybe not.
