goat does not = opposite of GOAT

goat does not = WOAT

a goat is simply someone who cannot win, or more specifically cannot beat the person that drags them to the end.

How does david ever win? Maybe he could win the thanks for coming out, most improved medal, but he really shouldn't win this game. He has found 2 idols, used 1 questionably, and the other horribly, and then went to rocks. He hasn't really strategized anything, he just fumbles around.

It's crunchtime.
What will be the legacy adv?
Advantage in f6 immunity would be dumb.
Is it an extra vote at f6 to essentially break any tie?

Maybe they're bringing back the jury exclusion or something along those lines

I was just kidding about the goat=WOAT part, but I wanted to correct the poster who had used GOAT when goat was what he should have said

I assumed that the usage of goat was originally derived from "sacrificial goat" or "scapegoat."

This in-depth (perhaps too in-depth) article seems to support that it's partially from that and partially from a Survivor Sucks thread after S2.

http://insidesurvivor.com/survivor-h...f-the-goat-685

"In conclusion, I think we can say that the origin of the goat developed through a combination of the “hero or goat” dichotomy, popularised within the sports industry due to its historical meaning and relationship with the often used “scapegoat”, and the hardcore fanbase’s persistent use of the word over the years inspired by sunsawed’s original Survivor Sucks thread. Both versions bleed into one another and help propagate the other one. Other Survivor buzz words have come and gone, but “goat” is the one that has stuck and will live on forever; proving that goat really is the greatest of all time."

Think Hannah is in a decent position right now if she can follow through.

One of the things I've started to think in the last few seasons and this one especially is that until F4, it's best to always be the third biggest threat - you are seen as someone how's not a goat, but you're also not the puppetmaster. That makes it easy at any time to point at someone else and say "THEY are the biggest threat and we need them gone now because none of us can beat them". If you look at the last six right now, in terms of winning chances (at least based on the current perception), it's something like

1. David/Jay
3. Hannah/Ken/Adam
6. Bret

Could easily see a scenario where the next two votes are the eliminations of Jay and David (considered the biggest two threats due to early season reputation on David's part, and jury composition on Jay's part), then Adam (the power player in the second half of the season). That leaves Hannah sitting with Ken and Bret. The key for Hannah will be making sure she gets enough credit for those next three eliminations - this is basically what the Twinnie did when she won. She was nothing special for a long time, then ran the show from F6 and won easily.

Think Adam is winning this. He was lol bad in the first half tho, but the first time he talked about his mom was very winners quote

After the last 2 episodes, I am leaning Adam as well. Jay had an outside shot if he had held on to his idol again somehow, but now that it's gone, unless Adam is willing to work with him, he's in trouble. David has always been a huge target and I feel like it's gotta catch up to him soon. Ken hasn't gotten that much screen time post merge and when he has, it hasn't looked pretty. Hannah is emerging but I think it would take a very specific final 3 for her to win. Bret is drawing dead.

How does Adam go from people saying he is a weasel and a terrible team player to people suddenly respecting and listening to him on strategy? Selective editing or has he just turned it around that much?

Anyway if he wins it's good stuff from the editors...cos that first mom quote when he found the idol made me think 1st or 4th (and I said that here) but then suddenly the whole thing with Taylor comes along and he's off the grind, and then he comes storming back.

Also worth noting how Adam played his dying mom card; if he makes it to the end and Jay doesn't, it's reaaaaal good for his game (provided he doesn't slip up and mention it again to anyone or at final tribal). It's practically a lock if Jay ends up at Ponderosa, he will tell all the jurors it (considering the empathy he shares cuz of his own mom), and they will have hella respect towards Adam for not playing up the fact or stealing the loved ones reward.

I think it'd be quite inappropriate for Jay to share that on behalf of Adam.

that's the quote i'm talking about. when watching i said to my wife, welp, he's going to win the game....but then after that he had a tragic display of gameplay until recently.

I dunno whether he'd tell them but I think he will be in Adams's corner as long as Adam doesn't eff up when he votes him off. If last season is anything to go by, big personalties like Jay who people like and respect on the jury can have a huge impact on who the jury votes for (though I dunno why they respected Scot and Jason so much last season.)

Also, if Adam tells anyone except Jay they probably try and get him out ASAP so it was a good read by him.

cannot win on paper*. We've seen plenty of goats given the victory by a bitter jury. They're still goats though.

It would be, but we're talking about a 20 something here who just went through a pretty rough adventure. He'd probably let it slip to Taylor when they discuss who they're voting for, because Taylor hates Adam.

Obviously if Taylor knows, everyone will know. Only question would be if it's over/under 1 hour.

That can't be correct. A mediocre player who has won can't be a goat because the very definition of a goat is one that gets little or no votes.
