I have enjoyed every all stars season. I also enjoy seasons with all new people. I also enjoy seasons with a mix. I'm not all tender-hearted, feeling sorry for these poor newbs. If they can't hang, they will be eliminated. If they are not interesting, I don't care if I get to know them. If they are interesting, I assume CBS in it's own best interests will make sure that I get to know them whether they have to compete for screen time with Coach or not.
My mother in law (someone who I feel is more representative of the common woman than I am) enjoys seeing the returning players. It always takes her a while to 'get to know' the new people, which in turn takes her a while to get invested in the show. (I enjoy the getting to know the new people phase. I am usually invested before the show even starts.)
I'm sure there are plenty of new and interesting characters out there. So I am in favor of seasons with new players. There are plenty of old interesting characters that I wouldn't mind seeing again. So I am in favor of all star seasons or even these bastard hybrid seasons.
I didn't like Boston Rob, Parvati, or Penner very much on the first go. I'm glad they all got to play again. Each of them grew on me with more exposure. Now they are some of my favorites. Oh, and Courtney...really disliked Courtney on her first go, now I really enjoy her. Some players have tarnished a bit with repeated viewings. I liked Rupert, James, Stephenie, Colby, and JT better on their first seasons than I do today.
