A poll would be a great way of finding out if people care about returning players or if they just want to watch a tv show. Suggested poll:

Do you enjoy watching the format of Survivor where the cast is a mix of veterans and new cast members?
a) No.
b) Yes.
c) Does not matter.

Tough to simultaneously not be thought-provoking, yet be thought-provoking enough to get jackasses to edit their posts more thoroughly after telling then they post like 13-year olds. My life is a series of contradictions.

Contest idea for the thread. Survivor-Survivor. Each week, you pick one person who you think won't be eliminated. If you're right, you survive to the next week. You can not pick anyone you've picked in previous weeks. if all the remaining players are people you've picked, you're out. Last man standing wins. I don't have the time to run it these days, but think it could easily just be self-adjudicated if no one wants to run with it.

If other peeps are interested, I pick Zane.

This sounds like fun. So I guess the strategy is to pick people who you think are likely to not make it far in the game. I'll gamble it up and go with Sarah Dawson for tonight.

One good one deserves another. And I was referring to the lack in your second post of "wimmin" "doods" and "noobs" that I was referring to as 13-year-old-esque from your first. Grown-up is generally the preference here.

I have enjoyed every all stars season. I also enjoy seasons with all new people. I also enjoy seasons with a mix. I'm not all tender-hearted, feeling sorry for these poor newbs. If they can't hang, they will be eliminated. If they are not interesting, I don't care if I get to know them. If they are interesting, I assume CBS in it's own best interests will make sure that I get to know them whether they have to compete for screen time with Coach or not.

My mother in law (someone who I feel is more representative of the common woman than I am) enjoys seeing the returning players. It always takes her a while to 'get to know' the new people, which in turn takes her a while to get invested in the show. (I enjoy the getting to know the new people phase. I am usually invested before the show even starts.)

I'm sure there are plenty of new and interesting characters out there. So I am in favor of seasons with new players. There are plenty of old interesting characters that I wouldn't mind seeing again. So I am in favor of all star seasons or even these bastard hybrid seasons.

I didn't like Boston Rob, Parvati, or Penner very much on the first go. I'm glad they all got to play again. Each of them grew on me with more exposure. Now they are some of my favorites. Oh, and Courtney...really disliked Courtney on her first go, now I really enjoy her. Some players have tarnished a bit with repeated viewings. I liked Rupert, James, Stephenie, Colby, and JT better on their first seasons than I do today.

What im getting from this, you along with the "common woman/man" prefer watching new people get run over by vets. There is very little that beats experience in life and people who can get 3x the experience of another is grossly unfair.

I usually dont like the returnee's so im biased in that way. I also want an opportunity to get to know the new characters.

Maybe just a coincidence with people's preferences so far, but people can pick somebody that someone else has already picked, just not the same person multiple times in one season yourself.
