For those of you who don't know, The Strain is an American horror–drama television series that premiered on FX on July 13, 2014.[1] It was created by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, based on their novel trilogy of the same name. Del Toro and Hogan wrote the pilot episode, "Night Zero", which del Toro directed. A thirteen-episode first season was ordered on November 19, 2013.[2] The pilot episode premiered at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas, in early June 2014.[3] The third episode, "Gone Smooth", had its debut at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con on July 25.[4]
On August 6, 2014, FX renewed The Strain for a 13-episode second season,[5] with production set to begin in November 2014
I'm not going to lie, i was hooked with the first episode, but then, the next episodes felt like they were written by brain-dead writers . I have compiled a list of 20 "moments of full-on ******" . As we speak, the series is at episode 8 first season.
WARNING ! SPOILERS ! Altough you will laugh. Trust me ... you will.
1. Only three members of the CDC investigate a huge jumbo jet filled with dead people. When the three members discover that the plane is filled with monsters, they do not inform the police, nor the media, nor any past associates (fellow workers, fellow professors, family members they may have who are cops, politicians, doctors, lawyers). NO other CDC scientists are involved, or are interested, or follow up in any way about that giant 747 filled with dead people.
The media drops it.
2. Setrakian and Eph & Nora all happen to head to the Arnot house at the same time, where Eph & Nora approach the little dead girl with no weapons or any kind of protection even though they know she has to be a monster just like the captain they just autopsied.
Thanks to the coincidence of Setrakian being there, he saves their asses by beheading the girl and he father, but Nora can't handle it because she thinks they're just normal people, ignoring the fact that Eph killed one of those "people" in a similar situation just hours earlier and she seemed fine with it.
Then apparently Eph & Setrakian have a sleepover at the Arnot house, and Setrakian makes breakfast the next morning, all while the Arnot corpses are lying in the basement.
3. Nora sees a monster attack people in her Mom's nursing home. She (more than anyone else there) KNOWS what is going on. Her reaction. . .drag Mom out of there, run home, and go to sleep.
This is so stupid it made my head hurt.
4. Fett is chased by a bunch of mutant creatures in the sewers who burn when the sunlight hits them, doesn't call the cops, draws a picture, goes to tell his father to get out of town, ends up talking about his father's upcoming book tour and gives him a vaguely-worded warning about "corruption" or something.
5. Devout Christian woman feeds neighbour to vampire because he dislikes her dog
6. Flight controller has never been on a plane before, acts mystified just to be standing next to one. Describes planes as "like buildings with wings"
7. Father thinks CDC let his clearly zombified daughter walk home by herself. Calls Eph to thank him, who basically thinks nothing of it and laughs it off. Followed by: Zombified daughter looks seriously ill. Father ignores it entirely.
8. Phones and internet are blacked out by a single super hacker to explain why the vampires are allowed to attack without causing a national panic. Not only is that difficult to swallow, but the weedy boyfriend is still able to make a phone call to the FBI to arrest Eph?
9. Weedy boyfriend character sees co-worker dying of a stab wound to the neck. Instead of calling for the cops or dialling 911 on his super phone, he walks briskly towards two hooded figures while angrily yelling "Hey! Did you do this?" - which would be suicide even if they weren't vampires and simply had knives.
10. Vampire just walks into nursing home and starts eating people. No follow-up because the Internet is down?
11. The lady lawyer's nanny is the only person to react like a normal human being towards the "returned" virus carriers ie "you are clearly sick, you should see a doctor, you are acting weird, I am getting away from you without causing alarm". The reactions of the other people range from putting the infected person in a bath, letting a doctor be murdered and hiring a fixer to cover it up, to watching a person eat raw meat before feeding them an annoying neighbour.
12. Gus and friend are beaten by a clearly superhumanly strong and fast old man, but only show mild surprise.
13. Setrakian, who has had many years to consider the possibility of this event occurring, has no idea how to convince CDC of upcoming mutant apocalypse, despite having a beating monster heart crawling with vampire worms in his possession. Tries walking up to CDC officials with a sword in the airport and telling them to behead the bodies.
14. The computer hacker just happens to be in that convenience store at the exact same time the group shows up. The exterminator just happens to be in the medical supply store. In a city of millions of people, and thousands of stores. None of the people who live in the houses surrounding the gas station are the slightest bit concerned about the fires, the vampires, or the gunshots, they are all sound asleep in their beds.
15. The taxi guy won't start the car even when the stingers are slamming the windows, he takes a gun, opens the door and empties all bullets on one vampire. The rest of the vampires eat him.
16. Fat vampire pulls man out of car during traffic(eclipse). Kills man with his blood sucker for all to see. Its ok though because media/internet blackout
17. Setrakian instead of opening the doors of the shed where he expects a vampire and probably his little colony, he just opens the door a tiny bit to avoid letting the light spill in. Out of fairness. To level the playing field. Because he is a good sport.
18. Hassan, the store clerk , in the midst of a huge zombie attack is not at all interested in surviving or getting out of the store and all he wants to know is who is going to pay for the damage.
19. The old guy in the store , after seeing the zombies gather in front says he "doesn't want any trouble" and just wanders off outside , seeming not phased at all by the 10's of zombies with 6foot stingers coming out their mouths. As a result he gets killed of course.
20. Rock star dude's penis falls off while taking a piss. He just calmly flushes it down the toilet like no problem.
This show needs to decide whether it's a dark comedy or wants to be taken seriously
