One thing that makes me doubt Paulie murdered Pie-O-My is that the fire inspector ruled out arson. Wouldn't Paulie want to make it look like arson?

possibly yeah
though he might not have done it himself, so...
also, possibly not tho
or they just excused that part of it for the benefit of the story

i'm just saying that i think Chase intentionally left that there as a possibility

it very easily could have been a freak accident as well

or say Tony smoking cigars in there did it lol

but i can def see scenarios where Paulie wants to make it look like an accident so that it sets up Ralphie, knowing that Ralphie would do it right so that he can get paid.
and/or he wanted Tony to get some insurance money out of it at least
and/or he didn't want to get Tony into any trouble

another thing i forgot to mention, was that later in the ep when they're disposing of Ralphie's body, Chris has a line that i couldn't quite make out, something about how Paulie was out in New Falls so he couldn't have [killed Ralphie]. can't remember if they ever mentioned where the stables were, so not sure if it's supposed to have the double meaning of placing him in an area where he could have set the fire. could very easily be nothing though, just speaking to Tony's lie about not having killed Ralphie.

a month ago, i'd never seen an episode of Sopranos. stupid me.

just finished season six. many thanks to the friend who insisted i watch this series after i told him i ranked The Wire #1.

i was told to expect great acting, original scripting, lots of depth. i did not expect to laugh so much. out loud, while watching alone. like when vito gets it on with johnny cakes, cut to train whistling through tunnel. i immediately am reminded of Last Tango, then a pan back to Bobby with his models. brilliant.

looking forward to reading all the pages in this thread, and my second time through the series.

Random, when tony goes to Janice's new house, the scene with little Richie prancing around lol ( which tony was loving seeing lol "dad must be proud as punch") tony gets in a fight with Janice and storms out and says " take that something? and shove it up your ass!" I can't make out what he is telling her to shove up her ass lol

Wahlberg's movie about the Boston Marathon bombing was REALLY good, surprisingly good. Only bump was when the mayor of Boston showed up at the Command Center, and all I could think was, "That's Johnny Sac! That's Johnny Sac!"

Scene opens, Tony and Janice carry a setee (small couch, pronounced set-TEE) into the house. Janice is recalling some wonderful memory on this setee.

Scene ends with "Take your setee and shove it up your ass!"

Chase, Winter, van Patten, and de Matteo, on Long Term Parking. Really enjoyed this. They point out the subtle stuff, too.

Today I was watching clips of the show and I happened upon where Carmine, Tony, Johnny Sack, and Christopher were all meeting. Carmine shakes Tony's hand. Tony shakes Johnny's hand. Everyone ignores Chris. Carmine sits. Tony sits. Johnny sits. Finally Christopher sits. Shows the pecking order without saying a word. So much thought in every scene.

It's been a while since I've read this thread, so I hope Ii'm not repeating a topic.

In season 3, episode 7 (Second opinion), Dr. Melfi refers Carmela to a psychiatrist- a mentor a Melfi's named Dr. Krakower.

Krakower bluntly tells Carmela she's Tony's enabler and that Carmela should leave Tony and take the kids with her.

My question is: Did Melfi know (with a high confidence level) that Krakower would respond like this? Did Melfi essentially try to get another psychiatrist to force Tony and Carmela to deal with the consequences of Tony's criminal career because Melfi couldn't do it herself?

I don't think so. It shows how oblivious Melfi is. Krakower would undoubtedly refuse to see Tony if he was referred to him.

Yea Melfi was oblivious. Remember when her friend (I forget his name) told her about how criminals use shrinks to clear their conscious in order to keep committing crimes?

Melfi is the girl that wants to date the bad boy and thinks she can change him and acts surprised when he doesn't change.

In an episode prior to that, Melfi met with Krakower and due to their conversation Melfi attempted to break it off with Tony by passing him on to behavioral therapy.

Melfi was not as oblivious and clueless as you guys are thinking. she was well aware of the issue of treating Tony and tried to break away multiple times.

Yeah once she had to go into hiding and then decided to keep seeing him after that it's alllllll on her

I mean she was aware of the issues but she rationalized away all of them like a champ. I really don't think she expected Carm's referral to go the way it did.

Also I think you're confusing Krakower with her therapist, Peter Bogdonovich

I'm currently re-watching it. Regarding the Pie-Oh-My fire, i really think its Ralphie. I'm in Season 3, Ep2 Proshai, Livushka

This is also the 1st time we saw Ralphie. Tony was talking to Ralphie and Albert about the garbage war bombings. Last line of Tony directing to Ralphie was "No. More. Fires."

heh I saw an ep of Curb Your Enthusiasm about a month ago that I'd never seen before, Aida Turturro (Janice) was in it and she was good and the show was funnt but she'll always be Janice and I couldn't get that out of my head.

This made me think of something; apologies if this has already arisen ITT. But is there any Sopranos cast member - and I'm talking about someone on the level of their name being on screen in the opening credits - who you could see in a subsequent role and not dwell on their Sopranos character? Maybe Falco I guess, since she was also on Oz for so long beforehand. But other than her?
