The writers for this show are ****ing terrible.

The only good thing about this episode was they actually showed a kid getting killed

I don't get how writers can put this crap out there and think it's OK, maybe it looks better on paper but that can't be the case because some of these plots and storylines are terrible.

This show delivers, again and again. Del Toro is an absolute master of pacing and suspense. The way he introduced the "good vampires" 3 or 4 episodes ago and then hasn't mentioned them again is brilliant. Every episodes finds me sitting on the edge of my seat drooling with anticipation. May have to wear a bib next week. With the speed the story is unfolding it may take those four more seasons to come to a resolution. Hold on and enjoy the ride.

A wizard did it. But yeah, the thing where people who get bit play dead for a while(like a long while, like an entire day for the plane victims that weren't the first four), that stopped too. Also the first four started having weird symptoms like hair loss, penis loss, etc. before turning, the wife looked pretty much normal when she attacked her friend.

Also, and this is dumb and minor, why do the random vampire zombie extras have blood all over their mouths? The vampires don't actually bite necks in this mythology, when they suck people's blood they do it with a 3 foot stinger tongue that doesn't cause any spills.

OBV Ephs wife has a greater purpose??? I don't know why I keep watching this show (or UTD for that matter) but not much better on tv these days..

The vampires hunt for the ones who are closest to them - so obv Eph's wife will be put to the task of hunting out Eph and the son.

Eph definitely traded up moving from the wife to Nora - killer body on that chick. Can't tell how hot the hacker chick is cause she has too many clothes on all the time.

I'm not liking the news that this has a long multi-season arc, as it means end of this season will not have resolution and I don't know if I can subject myself to another season of this dreck.

im mad that they made Kelly a vampire as i thought she was friggin beautiful

... is it wrong that i still kinda do? nah, right?

something that bothers me about this show, and tv in general... why the hell does Kevin Durand have to be Russian? that accent is distracting and bad, what is the fact that he is Russian really adding to that character? if he spoke in his normal voice would anyone complain about the lack of Russian diversity on the show? I'm sure he was Russian in the original text, but it's still basically irrelevent

This show has a real commitment to insulting its audience. The Walking Dead was just made by morons for morons, this **** has to be intentional. Del Toro MAKES GOOD MOVIES FFS. He made a good movie like last year.

The annoying and pointless old lady and the quest for cigarettes?

The ****ing vampire dude just watching soccer NEXT TO AN OPEN WINDOW IN A ROOM LIT BY SUNLIGHT??? (p.s. the writers, I think, forgot what day what happened. It had been like 2 days since the prison van crash, they didn't show the gangster for a few episodes but they started his plotline only a few hours after, either that or he took a few days off to chill in his orange jumpsuit before heading home)

"Everything that defines these people"?!?!?!?!

Blatant and stupid product placement?

The continued absence of the Blade SWAT team?

Couldn't understand what the master was saying so no clue why he didn't just reward the audience and kill or infect Eph. Episode was pretty bad and not looking forward to Marlo and the Hispanic guy riding around in a Benz shooting vamps next week.

Me neither - I even immediately rewound my DVR and still only caught half of it at most, mainly something about Eph being a pupil of Setrakian and the Master intending to ruin the lives of both.

I knew that kid was going to get the old lady her smokes, how the fvck can writers pen that on paper and be satisfied with it? It's nuts. Why even have that storyline, really what point is having a mother with Alzheimer's in this group supposed to add?

Yeah, the boy is a Carl clone.

has a new pupil...

00:35:44,576 --> 00:35:48,745
...to fail... as he failed.

462
00:35:50,282 --> 00:35:54,251
I have taken everything

And I...

00:35:59,258 --> 00:36:02,092
will take everything...

466
00:36:02,094 --> 00:36:03,860
from you.

Your wife...

00:36:08,267 --> 00:36:10,367
your son.

00:36:12,037 --> 00:36:14,538
I...

good post

i'm having a bit of trouble following the time frame b/c the public's reactions have been inconsistent. you'd think by now mostly everyone would know what was going on...

also, we should have expected this from a show whose main character is named Ephraim "Eph" Goodweather. Jesus.

Goodson and Spanish mom may have been the worst subplot I've ever seen and im not kidding. It's like they purposely paired the two worst characters just to Eph with us

Mostly the makeup and effects on this show have been OK - most notably the outstanding lizard tongue effect.

However, that main vampire's mask was like something on the discount rack at a Halloween store.

yeah wtf, like all throughout the show there's some terrifying badass super vampire soaring around in the shadows and sleeping in an intricately carved gigantic beautiful antique coffin and when they finally reveal his face he looks straight up goofy.

it's like they went to the makeup effects guy and asked for some circa 1998 corny-ass buffy the vampire slayer type ****.

Hahahahah that's exactly what it reminded me of. That's like the one thing they should be nailing on the show. **** the script, they gave up on that a while back, but the special effects... I have no idea why I keep watching. The Blade army thing is killing me

I don't know if there are two writing teams with different visions for how this plays out, but 3 episodes ago the vampires openly roamed the streets in packs and laid siege to a gas station without challenge from the police, last episode kids were doing half days at school and everyone was showing up to work at their Stoneheart Financial Group security and secretary jobs, and this episode there's looting during the day but no real indication that the looters were aware it was a vampire infection situation(the hospital lady, for example, told the gangster that it was just "a crazy day" on the phone).

IIRC the show has covered like two weeks. TWO ****ING WEEKS. There's only two episodes left this season!

Edit: Robocop directs the next episode so obviously I'm not missing that, but FFS show what exactly do you imagine you're building towards here?

Pretty much, except Walking Dead managed to kept some semblance of dramatic tension through the first season. Like, what are we all hoping for in the last two eps of this season here? More vampire ninjas and... maybe a few of the annoying and unlikable characters(which is all of them) to die?

This applies to the last episode very specifically but to the season and series as a whole, this show fundamentally ****ed up the nature of plot-driven storytelling. We wrapped up the "figure out what's going on" subplot 5 episodes ago thanks to a character beginning the show with full understanding, so what are our plucky band of heroes up to?

Well, they've already found a safe place to stay, so they have to put themselves into danger to create excitement. The **** they do to create that excitement has ranged from the WTF cigarette subplot to the not as obviously bad but still terrible subway subplot.

Now, it seems like the subway subplot made sense. They learned about the master, the old guy says kill the master to win, gotcha. But as the audience, we know that ain't happening. Not in episode 11 of 13, season 1 of X. So we knew, before they went down there, that either they weren't going to find the master or that killing the master wouldn't win. But now that goal is out there, so any future subplots will seem trivial and pointless. The "kill the master to win" thing should've been a reveal, like we should've had a multi-episode arc where they had to battle past vampires to find some old book or a monk or whatever to learn that, not just have it be some **** the Expositionbot 5000 spat out.

We know, as the audience, what the endgame is, so the next X episodes are just going to be watching Eph and his merry band of annoying ****wits screw that up and not kill the master.
