The Strain (FX, Sundays) The Strain (FX, Sundays)

It's a fun watch and I'm a sucker for disease based stories (although it seems a lot deeper than that). Could certainly do without all the family story stuff. When they were showing those scenes I just wanted them to get back to the outbreak story asap.

The one nitpick was
Spoiler:
How did that little girl make it to her dads house? Not only leaving the morgue, but somehow walking all the way home

I don't understand the hate people have for this show. It has some cliche and literary device problems, but it's about 10x better than The Walking Garbage. The directing so far is top tier and the suspense/plotting is pretty great. I've been skipping the ultra-boring development scenes with the CDC dude's family

Decent but kinda another fillerish ep - hopefully next couple of eps is paved out enough to be messy as ****

Who was the guy that got shot in the head by the Nazi vampire? Why did he have to die?

I thought this ep was much more encouraging. The exterminator is an actually interesting character who isn't a complete ****ing moron like the CDC crew, the plot holes are fading into the past(though they are still out there, why did discount Christoph Waltz not just murder Rudy? So obvious that Rudy is going to be Dr. Exposition next episode), now it's set up for some action.

He was some sort of authority figure with the airline or the airport, the secretary at the police station was watching him give a press conference.

It wasn't made clear why he made it look like a suicide or why he killed him.

The Exterminator and the Vampire Hunter, how do they get a few lines and are easily the best characters on the show? Is it the actors or how they are written? These 2 characters were likable within 2 minutes of screen time.

He was the CEO (I think) of the airline. The idea is that it will look like a suicide which will support the cover story that the deaths on the plane were the airline's fault.

Also the geek guy and his wife are surprisingly chill about everything. If I was on a plane where everyone died mysteriously

A) Would I really be pulling strings to get out like after a single day of quarantine?

B) After a variety of really ****ty symptoms started to manifest, would I and my wife/business manager/etc. just be all, hey, whatever, it's all cool, time to make an atrocious 9/11 reference? Like if some dude you knew on the death plane told you he couldn't perform because he was feeling sick, your ass would be running away directly to the nearest hospital. Because of how the death plane thing might be catching.

C) The wife walks in on him gulping down blood from a steak without so much as a "what are you doing?" Was the Geek like the weirdest ****ing dude on Earth prior to that so that behavior doesn't alarm her? Because I gotta say, if I started doing **** like that around my house, I'd face a few followup questions.

I don't really know anything about vampire lore, etc. Is a male losing his penis part of the transformation typically? It just seemed incredibly weird to me and other people watching with a similar knowledge base to me.

i think in this world the lesser vampire creatures are only interested in procreating and spreading the vampire-virus as a basic instinct, so the unnecessary parts of the host probably wither and die off, because these vampires procreate through spreading the worms. Obviously that wouldn't be able to be shown so they just went with the shock Ken doll reveal..

lore wise, it obviously varies. Depending on if the vampires are human based, or like some other creature masquerading as humans or just crazy monsters. The more monster like transformation the less likely the need for human genitalia. One other series of books that uses this that comes to mind is the Harry Dresden books, which have the one set of vampires convert humans to monsters that only use the human form as disguise and dont have human bodies.

Also some vampire lore has vampires only able to be made through a transformation and some like the series Blade, have born vampires and transformed vampires. Blade also utilized normal human type vampires, and crack-head vampires that were more like these ones.

cliffs- it depends?

thought this episode was better. The less i see of the family drama the better. Let's just fast forward to city wide infection with old dude and rat guy killing vamps.

cdc guy beat it's head repeatedly with fire extinguisher, similar to how the monster crushed the dude's head in the airport.

Treatment is the absolute worst case scenario, that's why geek's girl asked him what would happen if the CDC doc found out he still clearly had super aids. Fly is right though, at least this ep felt like it was building to something. It better start to pay off with some rat man/jew vs undead nazi war, not CDC dorks trying to save their kids, and being sad yet extremely focused until they save their kids and cancer wives, etc.

The vampire lore here is pretty complicated it seems there are several different classes of vampire:

1) Magic powers Dracula
2) Voldemort looking survivors/the Nazi
3) The reanimated corpses?

Hopefully the pawn shop guy stops being so ****ing cryptic and explains this ****. Ep 3 bought this show a few more episodes but it's still on thin ice.

Yeah I really really really want to give Del Toro the benefit of the doubt but that was terrible.

1) The Hispanic gangster/family subplot apparently is so critical it needed A NEW CHARACTER? The ****. I dunno about you guys, but that extra $400 will come in super handy during the ****ing draculapocalypse, so good scene, good use of time, good use of Jamie Hector.

2) Oh my god the Geek plotline is nonsense. Also, what are the other 2 survivors doing? What are the 200 bodies that disappeared from the morgue doing? Obviously we had to spend all of our time with the Geek's wife and Gone In 60 Seconds 2, so none of that **** got addressed.

3) Oh my God why would the CDC people keep that **** a secret.

Encouraging episode 3, terrible episode 4, I may stop watching.

Nice to see the crew is gainfully employed. First Chris Partlow on 24, now this? What's next, Snoop on Tyrant?
