Show needs new writers who will bring some new ideas in. They actually have a few funny regulars on the show, that do a good job acting. Just need some new ideas.

SNL doesn't have a divide between writers and actors like other shows do. Most of the cast is expected to come up with sketch ideas and write stuff, putting this all on the writers is unfair.

More John Mulaney goodness

Bump for Tina Fey tonight, she's been pretty good at carrying this so far

i think the show has done itself a disservice politically, too. they used to be willing to push it regardless of which party was in office. now, not so much.

First time I've watched the show in years. The sketch with the chick glued to her mom at the dance had me rolling

Tina Fey's Sarah Palin Netwrok sketch

The ending with Michael Steele is the best part

Tina Fey was awesome. It is a reminder of just what the cast is missing and what a good host will be like.

Didnt read the thread at the time but i agree that Zach G was great but they had him in the background of the same filler sketches they normally do with unfunny and incapable of acting hosts like Charles Barkley. His role in the kissing family and the whats up with that sketches could be performed by LITERALLY anyone and outside of the monologue there wasnt a part of the show that i could only imagine him doing.

What the show really needs right now is two new high quality cast members to take pressure off using Kenan and Kristen in every single sketch and a shakeup of writers inc some new talent so every other sketch stops being something done within the last five episodes. Old ideas should be used on rare occasions and usually when you have no idea what to do to fill a 5 minute slot.

End of the day some of the sketches of the last few shows should have never gotten further than brainstorming, with the farting rear window sketch and the ski lodge one from Charles Barkley being great examples for not only being unfunny but also going on something ridiculous like 7 minutes. Sometimes it feels like there is no QC at SNL and for the writers its more of a chore than a passion to fill the 65 minutes of show with any ideas at all regardless of how poor they are.

Biggest surprise in yesterday's show was Justin Bieber. I was expecting to hate on him just like I hate on Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift but the kid actually has talent. He can sing, he can dance, and has a good style. I can't believe I just said that.

Loved Tina Fey/Sarah Palin - I liked the Charlie Brown teacher stuff for the smarties on Cspan.

side: if you are a TF fan, you should like Date Night - she gets a pretty good script there.

The Tina Fey/Sarah Palin skit was hilarious - LOL @ the Tonight Show with Jay Leno bit.

I didn't know who Taylor Swift was before she hosted but I thought her episode was a top 3 ep this season.

Taylor Swift i only knew from the VMA and a snippet of song here and there but she came in and totally nailed that ep. She was one of the best hosts of this season and that is reflected on how good the ep is.

Had its moments but was never gonna touch on Tina Fey. Excessive use of former sketches probably had me hating it more than i should. The one where the guys were sitting round comparing stories was awesome though, always love when they do that sketch.

Prob the worst SNL ive ever seen. Arguably the worst comedy show of any series ive ever seen. Whose dumb idea was it to hire that talentless nobody to host. If i want to see a random unrecognisable black woman host the show just put Kenan in his wig and send him out, at least he will remember his lines.

Weekend update was good as always and the alarm clock Tina Tina sketch i liked when it wasnt including the host (dunno why but i like that repeat sketch).

Seriously she was that bad. She exerted a gravity field that sucked all humour out of the proximity of her. Exactly the host they need to go back to tried and tested serial sketches and they come up with a random shouting from a window and some kind of talkshow think with Kristen and the last sketch which im sure has been used before but it blew also.

They passed up some great opportunities to make jokes about how fat black women have far too much confidence compared to their attractiveness, or jokes about early death from diabetes or just some general "i wouldnt **** you with a Japanese whaling harpoon" jokes.

I didn't think it was that bad. Sidibe was clearly enthusiastic and game, which was a big step up from bland hosts like Ryan Phillipe. There was also some absurd stuff (Steve Harvey on Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Cherry Battle) that kind of cracked me up.

Was thinking the same thing and ff'ed through most of the skits before weekend update and snap mucked the episode halfway through the skit after weekend update

This show is unwatchable. Just check out the digital short on Hulu the day after and sometimes it might be good sometimes it won't. There's really no justifiable reason to sit down and spend 90 minutes watching this.

Correct play is DVR it and go through it in like 30 minutes.

Weekend Update was really good this week. Hader and Mulaney's pieces were some of the better stuff they have done all season (not saying much)
