Agreed this was his breakthrough performance.

Vanessa Bayer's Rachel was amazing. I really do not like Kanye.

Yeah he is amazing at impressions. I was aware of him before he was on the show from YouTube videos of his impressions. Kind of surprised that talent hasn't been taken advantage of more on the show.

Unfortunately that was about the only good part of last night's episode.

Yeah, that was the worst of the season by far.

Maybe I was just in a good mood but I thought it was overall a strong showing. At worst, it was a valiant effort to try some funny and new ideas, instead of just trotting out the same old crap we've seen.

Although I will say that a show like this exposes Jonah Hill's limits as far as size of character and performance. His comedy wheelhouse really is in more being a realistic jack ass, or a put out shlub. That's why he was better in things like the digital short of the high school wrestler, but man there were a few sketches such as the Arab auction or the murder mystery where I was thinking damn, i could totally see Will Ferrell doing this and absolutely crushing it.

Don't really know her music, seems like inoffensive generic pop, but Ariana Grande was ****ing awesome last night.

Obv they wrote to her strengths but she was crushing it, especially the streaming music sketch and her Jennifer Lawrence was strong. She has the best impression in that entire sketch which is all kinds of wrong.

very talented, and oddly able to toe the line between "cute" and "sexy"

mermaid sketch was elite

any sketch where kate mackinnon is the odd-man out (like the extra terrestrial probing one) is top notch

"me I'm workin with about 35% woman, 65% blowfish"

OT, but thanks and congratulations for being one of the 1% of people that know that it's "toe" and not "tow".

Pretty good episode

Kenan's Ortiz, Pete's rants, Space Pants, Beck's snack dancing, GoT highlights

And despite the fact that Leslie Jones is my least favorite cast member, she and Dinklage killed it in the Naked & Afraid skit.

Started off absolutely horrendously, but the second half was decent. Winnie the Pooh sketch may have been the WOAT.

Thought the ep was pretty darn terrible. I know SNL is known for having sketches go on forever, but you know how sometimes the last sketch of the night ends in a weird, abrupt manner, and it's because they were short on time so suddenly had to cut it short? Well most of the sketches tonight had that feel to them. Like they were all half they length they should've been. Maybe in honor of the host?

Lol at Leslie Jones being your least favourite in the cast.

When she goes on weekend update she is the best of all three on screen, for example.

Well actually Leslie on WU hitting on Colin is very funny to me too.
The reason I don't like her is because in virtually all other skits she's just that token stereotypical black friend who just says a lot of funny sounding words and making the same non-funny facial expressions. She can't do any impressions and doesn't really fill a much needed role on SNL.

But there are things that I find her funny in.

And also, lol at you lolling at people that have subjective opinions that differ from your own

The hitting on Jost bit was kind of funny the first time. Now I fast forward through her WU segments. She also routinely flubs lines in sketches and in the Naked and Afraid sketch she adjusts her clothes when she gets out of the car (forgot she was supposed to be naked). Maybe she is an ok standup but should not be on SNL.

I agree with your last sentence though.

Leslie Jones needs to be on SNL because of people who are uncomfortable watching her perform.
