Isn't the whole point that his invention is seemingly impossible and unprecedented? If he has merely created something "reasonable", he wouldn't have the heads of every major tech company falling over themselves to get it within hours.

i kind of think i want to just hold off a couple of weeks and binge watch half the season though since i tend to enjoy shows more when i can watch them in that fashion

The only thing that bothers me is if this guy really did invent this magical compression algorith, I can't imagine he wouldn't immediately know it was insanely valuable. I'm not even a huge tech guy but even I recognize the value of shrinking a musical file to 1.5 mb with no loss.

That's a pretty minor nitpick though, I loved the episode and can't wait for the rest of the season.

I guess it depends if the musicians are uploading 40mb wav files or 4mb mp3 files to do these tests. Lossless compression that's 5% of the size of what the data was before = holy ****, lossless compression that's 50% of the size = I can buy that he might overlook its global importance while focusing on it as an optimization to his site.

Lossless implies that it's the same as the original file. So, it would be full resolution. The algorithm is pure insanity, and he would have to have major myopia to not get the impact of it.

Hexadecimal is base 16, so after 9 is A-F

So he's saying 9*F is F5 which he calls fleventy five. I don't know if "fleventy" is actually used when referring to F0s but it sounds like the math is incorrect regardless

The joke, on my level, is in the setup he learned the times table in abnormal numbers and yet in this world it is normal. Whether fleventy is even a real word let alone if the math works isn't integral to it landing imo.
