The show lost me when the girl told the uncle not to kill the bounty hunter. And he listened. Ugh. I can live with f'd up science and plot holes, but not stupidity.

Third ep better than second ep. Still very meh. The show is getting to the point where I am gonna quit it really quickly.

On the upside at least they seem to have been reading this thread and are answering some of the nit points like how there arent loads of bullets which is why they are forced to use black powder flintlock rifles.

that episode got me back. it's still all over the place with direction, but I'll give the writers the benefit of the doubt they can tie it together.

Best episode yet, not sure that is saying much though.

I liked the sending out guys to get shot until the sniper runs out of bullets idea. Very resourceful.

+1 to this. I mean, did Jacob really think that this was going to work? Who knows how many bullets he has, and he's proven that he's a pretty good shot.

Also, lol at the flaming crossbow 1-in-a-million shot to the backpack from 100 yards away. Nice shootin' Tex!

Are you saying that shot is difficult? Cos it really isnt with that compound crossbow and a good level of skill.

Ya, I didn't like obviously evil they made Jacob. You want to make him waste bullets. Sending men one by one is a good way to ensure one shot one kill, maximizing his efficiency.

They should scrap this show and make a dedicated "6 months after the blackout" show imo.

You guys are so negative, it's like a show can't be stupid and entertaining.

I really want to like this show, I even started trying to read the similar book series someone recommended earlier in this thread, but they make it really hard. The only character that was kind of cool was Miles, and they're even managing to make him lame.

This concept could be awesome, but that episode was so obvious and terribad.

NBC announced today that they're picking it up for at least the first full season though.

Ya she seems so whiny. That dialogue when miles yells at her for calling her dad a coward was so out of left field and bad

Can't be the only one that thought of this:

Yeah, she needs to get her head out of her ass and realize what has happened and what is going on in the world. Wouldn't think she would need to mature as much as she does since she grew up in this world for the majority of her life.

I actually liked this episode so I will stick around.

PS, I just don't know how the writers can write dialog and not think it was awful. When the niece tells Miles not to kill the guy that is trying to take him away.

I was thinking about this earlier, Im pretty sure the lead chick is mean to be like Katniss from the Hunger Games. But written by people who only saw the trailer of Hunger Games.

Although, apparently there is a huge group of people that think that when the **** hits the fan that people will hold hands while they rebuild society together. If its one thing this show got right its when they killed off all these idiots in the 15yr time jump. Other than that its too easy IMO. No power = **** hitting the fan = end of world in pretty much any scenario IMO. Maybe that's just my (lack of) faith in humanity talking, but sadly its true.
I totally think the **** would hit the fan. I just also recognize that the government controls the military and would survive.

Without command and control the military and government would quickly fall apart. After whatever emergency rations there were ran out, individual soldiers and government officials would abandon their posts and try to find food and potable water to survive, just like everyone else.

They would still have command and control, and they would work together to make sure they and their families had food and water first. No doubt there would be some brutal oppression by the military, but it would still be under the banner of the U.S.

How are you going to have command and control? There's no communication, no transportation. People will be rioting in the streets, fighting over what resources are left. Government, particularly on a federal or state level, will have no power, and no one will have any use for it anyway. At most, I can see people organizing groups and community governments again after a long time passes and with the small fraction of the population that survives.
