I never watched it until recently. It's just a continuation of the show, so if you like the show you should probably watch Overtime for an extra 10-15 minutes.
Good lord that woman in the middle was terrible. I was looking forward to Seth, but she just monopolized the whole show.
Seems to me that the guests you guys don't like are the ones that don't agree with the others (and the host).
Sure, this one was patently ridiculous at times, such as defending flat-earthers--but that position represents a huge segment of this country. Weeding out these folks, forcing them to examine their silly "beliefs>facts" thinking, is what will make the world a better place.
Besides, if everyone on this show agreed, it would not be as entertaining.
What I'm saying, bottom line: let's not line up each week to say the dissenting guest was "awful".
I guess I shouldn't have said she was terrible. What I meant was it was terrible how much time she talked compared to the others. (and yeah, nvm, she was terrible)
She was a pretty classic single issue voter/pundit. Trump was marginally better on her one issue (vociferous about Islamic fanaticism) so she's stuck with him.
In combination with being a delicate flower, not a good guest.
Did I interpret it wrong or did Santorum pretty much say that the country can't protect the environment and give uneducated people jobs at the same time?
Pretty sure the congressman on this episode was the inspiration for the lifeless robotic congressman that Ben and April work for in Parks and Rec. Even for a politician he came across as ridiculously empty and boring.
Also Ana Navarro always sucks.
And Im probably in the minority, but comedy/news shows with a liberal bend were better pre-Trump. The Trump exhaustion is real. Trump sucks and its probably a good thing that people are so diligent against him, but its not a good thing for entertainment or for my attention span.
Aw man, I wish I could find the video so you hear the line in HIS voice....but Rob Reiner's exchange about whether or not he had ever been to a free clinic sounded EXACTLY like one of his lines from All in the Family!
ARCHIE: You know what you're stuffing them envelopes with, Edith?
EDITH: No, I didn't read it.
ARCHIE: Well you're stuffing them envelopes with radical, liberal garbage!
MIKE: Why don't you stop putting labels on things you don't understand?
ARCHIE: Well I understand this all right! (reading from flyer) Queens Free Clinic. A place for the high school dropout, the teenage runaway...that will provide free food, free medical attention, free treatment for VD! VD, you know what that is, Edith?
EDITH: (unsure) VD....no wait, don't tell me!
GLORIA: There are lots of free clinics like this, Daddy.
ARCHIE: (upset) Well why should them dropouts get anything free, huh? When I was a kid, you had to be in the *army* to get free shots for VD!
MIKE: Don't worry, Arch. I'm sure the army still gets its share of the action!
I like him, but this week was far from his best effort.
Forgot to mention: I spent the entire Elizabeth Warren interview wishing he could ditch the panel and bits, and just talk to her for the entire hour. I've been saying for years that this country needs another trust-busting Teddy Roosevelt. I think she might be my guy.
Went to see his stand up routine in Dallas last night. Was pretty good. I expected a lot less political talk, but nah. This was a make up show for the show that was cancelled due to plane mechanical issues back in January. To make up for the no show he catered a huge BBQ dinner for everyone before the show and also gave all profits to local charities. I thought that was such a huge gesture. Made me like him just that much more than I already did.
Yeah... last week's show was good but not great. The panel was kind of cuck'd by the strong and proud black woman. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
+1 on rather listening to Maher and Warren chat for an hour.
Kasich seemed way too reasonable for a Republican. Must have been an impostor. You'd think that type of person would be the one Democrats have to really worry about in a general election because he could draw some votes from the left, but nah, not crazy enough for his own base apparently.
