I remember Attenborough being annoyed that they edited out climate change from one of his shows, maybe Blue Planet? That was a few years ago though.

Yeah that's what I was referring to, although think it was a special tail end segment to Frozen Planet. This time the climate change stuff was part of the narrative of the main episode.

i am kinda surprised that anyone would think ep 2 > ep 1, but each to their own. with that said, rbk you are the king of hyperbole.

squashington, this is airing on the bbc and is only (legally) available on bbc tv and bbc iplayer. and whilst it was filmed in 4k, currently it's not being shown in that format.

from wiki

Quote:
Uncertainty surrounded whether the series' seventh episode, which focuses on climate change, would air in the United States, where it is a politically sensitive issue.

...

This episode was initially not expected to be shown in the United States. Ten networks that would have run the episode opted out, citing fear of controversy and "the reaction it might draw from America's climate change skeptics", including the fact that "the timing of a one-sided global warming programme could be particularly sensitive in the U.S., where climate change is an issue in the presidential race."

On 6 December 2011, the Discovery Channel announced it would air the seventh and final episode of Frozen Planet.

Anyone else presume the eagle footage was filmed by attaching a miniature camera to an eagle? Why didn't they do that?

What was odd was they had a shot where there definitely was a camera on the eagle, then they never mentioned it in the post diary bit.

It was possibly footage from another shoot or something?

yeah, was a bit weird. i imagine it had to have been new footage filmed specifically for the show, but they probably didn't go into it because it's not super interesting. strap a go pro to a trained eagle and let it fly.

Tbh yes, my dad thought it was filmed using a drone.
I also thought that the ibexe was jumping to the 1st rock lol my bad.

Does attaching a go-pro to Golden Eagle's going at 200 mhp work?

I remember seeing an episode of Frozen Planet in America a few years back and they didn't have Attenborough as the narrator. I just turned it off and didn't bother watching

The rescue of the girl spider-monkey bit was amazing.

DA is really having a go at human beings this series with the climate change and deforestation remarks.

Today's episode was my favourite so far. The lions chasing the giraffe and the mustangs fighting were both awesome.

Yeh that whole episode was brilliant. Also, I'd happily watch another whole hour documentary on just the filming.

There's always at least one jaw-dropping moment. The locust swarm was incredible and scary. Fight between the bat and the scorpion was like an action flick.

The grouse were pretty hardcore too. 120 mile round trip (half of which they carry 40% of their weight in water) EVERY DAY for two months to keep their chicks alive. Oh and having to avoid being eaten by Harris hawks.

Life is a grind for those poor sods.

If you've not seen them, all his nature documentaries are incredible. Even the really old ones, which may not be quite as pretty, are still amazingly shot, and just as fascinating.

A few of the more recent and acclaimed ones are - The Blue Planet, Africa, Life, Frozen Planet.

With Xmas coming up, this also makes an awesome present (do people still have DVD players?) - The Life Collection
