Now that was a fantastic episode. Am i biased when i say that PoI is at its best when Root is in the spotlight?

So who in the main cast dies this season?

I would be ok with Reese going tbh. That and they bring in another female lead and we have some Harolds angels going on...

Knowing TV i suspect its Shaw that gets to leave though. Shes the only one that doesnt have an arc right now where shes dealing with the fear of losing. A normal tv curveball would be that she goes since noone expects that.

As much as I love Root and what she does for the show, I think it'd be really interesting to see her start going crazy again. Looking and listening so hard for the machine's messages that she starts seeing things that aren't there. Getting into arguments and fights with the rest of the team because of her faith in something invisible and unverifiable. Would be damn cool to see.

Root in god mode is always a rare treat in the show.

The finale of this season is going to be crazy given all the assets and moving parts Samaritan has built to influence and control the world.

Excellent episode, Root has really become the central character that gives the show it's drive. Harold, John and Shaw are all great, I love the characters, but Root just brings a different dimension to the show.

A different dimension like...being an actual human being? John and Shaw do a pretty goddamned good cyborg/robot impression, either would've been great on Mac and C.H.E.E.S.E

That episode was really awesome, surprised there has been no comment on it. They managed to link absolutely everything up in a single episode!

Elias and Dominic, man, that scene was just the nuts. I don't care how few people watch this, as long as it's on, I'm a happy man.

I am still loving this show but with it on at 10pm and a 10 month old boy, it takes me to the next day or two to watch it. I need to wait another day or two so I can be nice and awake to get into it.

I also really liked the scene with John and Elias, we get an idea of how hard it is for Elias and the group to co-exist. John was pissed and Elias didn't give a sht, their working arrangement goes from friendly to go fvck yourself real quick. They still wanted the same thing in the end.

So what was the woman with Finch about? She is unknowingly pro Samaritin and she has a formula that they are interested in?

It was the first time the gang was a step ahead of Samaritan. She holds the key to something important related to AI, what that is was left intentionally mysterious.

At a guess it can't be a coincidence it followed hot on the heels of Root and the Machine coming back on Samaritan's radar - maybe it's the deus ex machina weapon which Samaritan wants to use to wipe out the last AI competition having previously assassinated purple capable of building others, but it will be used against it?

Finally got a chance to watch this episode, and this series is just simply one of the best structured TV shows on TV right now, and possibly of all time. They're thinking so far down the line that it's just unbelievable. This isn't like Hannibal, where they have a plan for a period of time. This show is extraordinarily complex, and nothing ever feels forced. The Dominic/Elias dynamic is going to become one of the best on the show.

In regard to the woman, Harold planted something on her computer, and I wonder if it could be something as simple as a virus to get into Samaritan's system, or if it's just a way to spy when she goes in for their meeting with them. That's a very interesting plot line that will be nice to see develop.

Is it coincidental that the woman looks like she could basically play Root's mom (even used her voice similarly, which is not how the woman usually talks), and is adversarial like Root is?

This is the best show on broadcast TV. Expertly written and fantastic characters make this show must see TV. The writers don't just look a few episodes ahead they are 8-10 episodes ahead and could even be setting up future seasons as well. I never thought I would like Root but she has grown on me and the writers are the reason. Great show all around.

I'm subbing to this thread! This show slipped away from me and when I saw Carter advertised for some other show I decided I better pick this show back up before I get any more deaths spoilered (I had stopped at Season 2 and after multiple mentions to the wife that we should pick POI back up because I had heard great things about S3, she finally agreed). A month later and now I'm only 2 episodes behind. Can't wait to join the conversation here, although disappointed to see there's not much activity ITT.

One thing I picked up on - they have been reaaallly subtly hinting out root and shaw having feelings for each other since the beginnings of season 3, and it finally got mentioned in the episode I just watched [4x05]

Root [to Harold]: If the worst comes to pass, could you give Shaw a message?
Harold: I think she already knows.

I'm rooting for some Root-Shaw action and I'm excited to see how far CBS pushes that angle.

One thing that really started to become evident to me in my catch-up of this show - there are no weak characters in POI. The cast isn't LOST-size, but it isn't as small as 24 either. And yet all of the characters are really well developed and unique. There isn't a single character on the show that I'm not interested in when they are on screen. It's hard to say that about any other TV show.

Also I think that in Season 3 and so far in Season 4 from what I've seen they have become masters at integrating the number-of-the-week side stories with the main story. Just like one of the major themes of the show, every number is important. And as the show has evolved that has become more and more true because we are seeing how each of the weekly numbers plays a role in the bigger picture (Samartin's rise to power and now it's attempt at world domination)

The Root crush on Shaw is such a great angle, and such a unique thing, especially on a network TV show. At first I thought I must just be imagining it -- wishful thinking and all, but the last episode really made it evident that's what's going on.

And I agree that every single character is massively interesting and every storyline is really well thought out.

One thing I've started to notice that this show does much better than other shows is that they don't give you the standard, "Previously, on POI...," every week, which is kind of a cheap way to keep viewers up to date. Instead, they often flawlessly remind you in episode how things relate to past events. This way you're not expecting them to bring in certain angles during the episode, so that they can go for full shock value. Just another subtle thing that sets this show apart.

Just caught up!

[4x06] - ****ing loved the detective. 100% this was a homage to Breaking Bad. First, he wears a similar hat and jacket, and he has the moustache. Second, he is awkward and an amateur at what he was doing, reminded me of the early seasons of Walter White.

[4x07] - The last minute was awesome and set the stage for episodes to come.

First, we got the government operative learning that Shaw is in fact still alive.

Second, we got Samaritan recovering the deleted camera feeds. In one camera feed we can see the guy pointing the gun and not shooting, also he said "Shaw". Other camera gives a blurry picture of Shaw's face, so once it decodes it then it will probably unveil her cover identity. At that point, Samaritan is gonna be like wtf this doesn't make sense, and look back at all of the other stuff Shaw has been doing with Romeo and the bank robberies etc, and realize her to be a threat and raise a bunch of flags. This is bad news for Shaw

Third, "...it might take all night"

Fourth, I get the notion that Samaritan may have no ill intentions at first, but **** that. We know that Samaritan would have put some malicious stuff on those tablets eventually. It makes sense for them to ship out clean, then Samaritan can pass on a virus to them through wifi and that'd be in.

Samaritan is building up its control and eliminating threats to itself. Its impossible to know it's plan for the tablets without asking it, that was basically the point. It seems likely the long goal was influencing the next generation of people for its greater goal of survival.

Btw it's seems obvious that it's going to create a 9/11 for that goal, recruiting unwavering followers and picking up a mega plague virus. It sees the fate of The Machine and is going to create a appetite for protection that makes it effectively immune from being shutdown. It has positioned people in key areas to pass a bill after that act of terror basically making its existence permanant and official.

Nah man. It's the other way.

Fwiw the show usually has three long plots going on, two is very manageable. Seeing the vacuum of power being filled after HR was entirely taken out is important to the show continuing for another couple of years (at least).

Super episode and I echo the fact that all the characters in the show are strong. The writers have done a great job interweaving Root into the team and making her a likable figure. The Root and Shaw interaction seems to be leading into something different.

Great show.

I wrote earlier that i thought that Shaw is my bet for the one that dies next. Now with them even furthering the romance between Root and Shaw i deem that even more likely. It would be a good way to fully set Root off to become the super anti-hero.
