I finally got around to watching the show as I had taped it on the DVR. Watched 5 episodes in 2 nights and regret not taping them all

Great mid season break finale.

Any idea how long the mid season break is? Wikipedia didn't give any info, I'm guessing it'll be back sometime around February?

I thought it was a good episode, sets up some interesting stuff for the second half of the season. Looking forward to more of the story about how/why Reese killed his female secret agent partner. Also, it took me a few mins after the episode had ended to remember how Det. Carter recognized Finch. The show probably needs to start having some sort of "previously on..." segment as it becomes less procedural and more serial.

I definitely do not think they should start doing bores. They're not necessary, and I don't think that arc is going to take over, it's just a portion of the series at this point.

I'm assuming the show will be coming back in January, but it's still too damn long to wait.

You forgot "if". Given how much they lied about to convince Carter that Reese was a bad guy there is a decent chance he didnt kill the woman from the earlier flashback.

Btw the episode did a season record and helped CBS dominate the night, though it helped that most channels had their mid season breaks last week.

For me, the difference between liking and really liking an episode depends on how much screen time Carter gets. So, I really liked this one. I like that Carter has now seen them both and let them go. It'll be interesting to see where they take things in the second half.

was there anything else? tbh, was that enough to change Carter's mind (besides already wavering on her decision)? she already knows Reese is a vigilante so knowing he has help shouldn't be such a moment of epiphany. i feel like i'm forgetting something though...

Ya, what I meant was I'm interested in the circumstances of it. I was thinking he could have killed her but in some sort of setup/self-defense situation that is now being turned against him.

That show starts growing on me.
I think our hero moved away from being a one-dimensional boring character to a quite interesting character with a very fitting dry sense of humour.
The interactions between Fosco and him are always entertaining.
They added just a little more season story arc which is good because not every case hits the nail on the head.

I hope they can gather a solid viewership and then really start exploring a more complex story arc with characters from his past and maybe even a "big bad" that connects to many of those numbers they get.

She spoke to Finch after the robbery to some extent too in the following episode, but most of the reasoning why she decided to let them go is because she didnt trust the CIA pair. The flashback in Afghanistan where she found the marines had killed the guy she interrogated was part of the trigger too, because whilst Reese is a bad guy by any legal definition the people who tried to kill him on the roof were bad guys by the moral definition and she is very much a moral person.

It also reflected nicely on the earlier dialogue in the episode where Fusco asks her that if she ever caught him would she know whether she would arrest him or let him go and she immediately answer arrest him, indicating it was mostly the two CIA agents who tipped her decision.

The CIA will feature more heavily in the rest of the show itself, but they also have Elias who is the big bad of the season one arc.

That's really nice analysis, Phill, and is probably exactly why she let them go, once she realized they were working for the greater good. She actually had a couple of good conversations with Finch during that little arc, that I can barely remember.

I actually thought Carter was lying when she said she would arrest him in the hypothetical conversation with Fusco. So, I was kind of surprised to see her actually tip off the CIA guys (while conflicted). Instead, it made for a nice turn in the character when she realized what was really up. I also don't believe the story the CIA guys told is true, and the way they treated the character that got killed (played by Annie Parisse) was that she was a sociopath (in my opinion).

Also, the show now has excellent prospects of getting renewed for season 2. This is the only new show I desperately want renewed (that hasn't been already).

Last episode was great. Watched it twice already. There's a few shows I like more than this one, but this one needs to get a few more seasons for sure.

Who's the guy (actor) that Reese looks like? I always think "Jack Daniels" and that throws off any hope of me remembering lol. He's been a "tough guy" ladies man in soo many movies!

I'm not ashamed to say this is my favorite new show, and definitely one of my top 3 or 4 favorites I'm watching right now, despite the massive suspension of disbelief necessary to watch it.

Just caught the Elias episode on rerun. My wife pointed out immediately that the "bald guy" was the dude from Just Shoot Me. Gained a little weight but I think that's him.

Great episode. Other than a tiny appearance in the episode where Carter gets ambushed, does he appear on screen again? we've only seen 6 or so eps, including the las 2 before Christmas.
