Please just show me a sign that this isn't going to be nothing but a procedural. Please.

Ben Linus is awesome and the badass guy is a pretty good actor for someone playing that role. This has so much potential. But I'm not going to watch them save the day for more than one season.

I don't believe I can recall the last time CBS had a non-procedural. It's unfortunate, but most people don't want to have to remember stuff to enjoy a show. CBS likes their crime procedurals and reality shows. It works for them. That's why I watch mostly ABC and Fox which end up canceling most shows I get into after 1 season, despite getting great reviews, due to poor ratings.

It actually sounds a little like he is butchering some kind of southern accent, but the whispering is pretty annoying.

For those hoping for story arc, there is one. It's just going to be given to us in bits and pieces, and probably very very slowly for the best effect. I think the way they are unfolding the story is great, and that it's basically how it should be done. The show would never make it if it were only a story arc type show. This is what I call a "fun" police procedural. If you look closely, you will see some similarities, especially in story telling and show construction, to the recent seasons of Burn Notice.

Not that it means anything to any of you, but this is, BY FAR, my favorite new network TV show of the 2011-2012 TV season, so far.

He's doing a way better Batman voice than Christian Bale.

Awesome! That has become my "joke" theory, though it could be true. Reese doesn't shoot people in the leg for nothing..

They address a couple of things that were bothering me and some others.

Quote:
Finch is disabled, leading Emerson to become a bit of an expert on his physical condition as he explored how best portray that aspect of the character. “What is the exact nature of that handicap, and is it playable for many, many hours day after day after day?” he recalled questioning himself. “You don’t want to do too much of an Elephant Man-type of thing. You don’t want to contort yourself too much because then you’ll constantly need physical therapy. I had to find something that was right, believable, logical, but also something that was easy on me physically. So, using those parameters, I came up with this thing which is mainly just good posture and a neck that doesn’t move. Oh, and the one bad leg.”

“Once you start doing it, it’s so funny, I’m sort of now the authority on my own disability,” he said. “When it came time to show those X-rays, there had to be some discussion about, ‘Where do you think you’re really hurt?’”
Quote:
While not all of the secrets and turns they’ll take have already been planned, Nolan definitely knows how the series is going to end. “To a certain degree, the networks and the studios want to get a sense, especially because there’s a serialized component to the show, that you have a sense of what’s happening to these people,” he said. “I feel a sense of responsibility that if I’m going to ask billions of people … to start engaging and caring about these characters and the story, you have to have a good idea of where it was going. I know what the end is, and along the way we have waypoints, some story moments that we have planned out. We’re about to hit one in episode nine. One of the great fun things about TV is that it’s a massive collaboration. We all build this story together.”

Good episode. It was crazy seeing the Observer from Fringe as a mafioso type character.

This show is playing out nicely so far. Not one major complaint.

I wish I had that one-touch clone app Reese has. Listening in on people like that would be nuts. There's some cool gadgets in this show.

Yeah, another nice ep.

Its great to get it confirmed there is a serialised story behind the show which we are barely touching now.

In the open Jesus asked Emerson what was good there. Emerson answered back that his interrogating wont work, asking what was good indicates he had been there a lot and thus he would know he lives in the area and has more info on his life.

The close had Jesus tell Emerson he was glad he gave him a job, indicating he had purpose and was buying into the mission, and Emerson told him the eggs benedict was good as he had it lots of times before - indicating Emerson had started to trust him.

It was a slightly subtle character development showing the two of them becoming closer when before Emerson had zero trust of Jesus and Jesus was helping but had little connection to the concept and mission as if it were a job or just a hobby to kill time.

I'm not sure if eggs benedict is even on the menu, I think that is what made Reese smile/laugh.

Another excellent episode.

I'll have to rewatch, if true that is even more awesome.

so the eggs benedict not being on the menu would mean that Finch is a regular patron so he gets special treatment? Therefore, confirming that he does live in the area?

I hate that he got shot the first time and the guy doesn't finish him off and then the second time he sneaks up behind him and misses from almost point blank range. Give me a break.

Other than that, I like the show.

It not being on the menu is him levelling Jesus making a joke about the earlier exchange and furthering the idea that he would always remain guarded.

You have to look past that stuff on this show. Something like this happens a minimum of 3x every show.

I just watched this, sucks that it was on simultaneous with the world series 9/10th inning on the west coast. It was definitely a great episode, I'm looking forward to the fixer in future episodes.

Loved Finch shorting the company stock to take all the guys money, awesome.

Shorting wouldn't take the guys money. It just made Finch a ****load after causing the company to fail.
