Pretty good episode.

By nature I hate any show when they toss a baby in for lulz or drama but they did it mostly right in this one.

I think they could have gone more in depth with Carter and Reese about saving the baby vs. turning over the old man. How exactly would the police have handled it better? All they would have done was change who got killed imo.

If you are right that there are 2 eps to go id be shocked if Elias isnt just ramped up to be a bigger force rather than get ended in this season. He always seemed too large a character to just cover a single season and they would have used him more throughout the season if he was just a one and done.

As for the baby and Carter,

Her point was that if the baby was being protected by her and the cops there would have been no dilemma on who to save i think.

But the baby would have never been protected by the cops because she never would have been taken out of the hospital or group home or whatever that place was.

If they knew people were going to kidnap her she would have.

The obvious point is that Carter doesnt know about the machine but if they had just told her that the baby was in danger she could have done something like assign protection or whatever anyway without needing to know.

There isnt really anything to expand on with that point, its a case that she was pissed the organised crime cop got shot and their asset was taken by Elias as a tradeoff of protecting the baby when she thought they could have done both if they worked in a different way. And in theory she is right.

I hope I'm wrong. IMDB shows only 3 eps after the latest one waiting to be aired.

I agree on the baby thing. The police could've handled that particular protection case imo.

The traditional season is 22 episodes. There should be five left, and they probably won't come back on until after March Madness, which will set it up perfectly for May sweeps.

Twil, what do you mean when you say the police could've handled that particular protection case? If you're referring to Moretti, this isn't correct. No cops, outside of Carter, that we've seen so far, can be trusted. Elias is pretty much running the NYPD, according to this show. Carter is way off the reservation, and we are also led to believe the Geico guy is, as well. Why Elias's people wouldn't mortally wound him is kind of suspect, though.

I also don't understand why anyone is looking for an end to any story arcs. This show is setting up a huge series long arc with Elias, and nothing's going to get wrapped up this season, as far as I can tell, and nothing should.

We are looking for an end to the Elias arc because he was setup as the "big bad" of this season. The overreaching arc is the one with Finch and the machine and the dead guy... one of these has to be concluded and I'm guessing it is Elias.

This is wrong. Fusco followed her to the safe house quite easily. He just didn't blow the location. If Fusco could follow her to the safe house, why can't anyone else? Carter will get that soon enough. She wasn't being careful, and her relationship with them won't end, she's just not thinking things through clearly. She also understands the trade offs, things just really hit her close to home that she can't tell people much about anything she's doing (even them, remember, she's let her guard down).

I also don't think that's correct about the baby. The baby was going to end up in Social Services, and if you didn't notice, someone was already going to kidnap the baby. Finch just happened to be in the right place, at the right time to stop it (by kidnapping her himself). If someone says a safe haven baby is in danger and to send out the police protection, that won't happen. I'd love someone to prove me wrong on this. The main point of the baby was to set up a difficult choice, and to show how deep the Elias machinations go.

You're putting the show in a box. This show is not every other show you've seen. Elias is clearly being set up to play throughout the entire series. He's trying to take over a city, and no one's going to be able to stop that. He's too entrenched. Remember how he told John not to get in his way, and he won't get in his? Their paths are beginning to intersect, but Elias isn't going anywhere. His character has barely been mined, and he can be of great help to them, as they can in some ways to him (this episode was the clearest evidence of that, even though it ended up badly for John). Don't expect either the machine or Elias to go away, ever.

That sketch was so hillarious and so dead on at the same time. Carter talking how the baby was kidnapped by some wierd looking person and then was like "oh ****, it's you". LOL.

It was a legit LOL for me, as well. That's why I took the pic of it from my TV right after I saw it. This show is so pitch perfect with its humor.

Not sure if it's been said, but Person of Interest has been officially renewed for a second season. Yay!
