I agree with this completely. When I heard Amy Poehler was going to be on the show, I didn't have any interest in seeing it. When I edited and mixed some commentaries for the DVD of season 1, I fell in love with the show, and I didn't even get to watch them in order, or all of them. Once we delivered, I went on hulu and watched all of the ones that were available (the whole first season).
She is playing so against the type I had been accustomed to her playing, that she absolutely blows me away on the show. Her performance is definitely one of the best on the show, and it's hard to believe she can play this part as well as she does, as convincingly as she does, and as funny as she does. This cast is so stacked with great comedic actors, so, outside of Rob Lowe, it's just a straight up amazing cast, from top to bottom. In his better episodes, Lowe is fine, but he's the only character that consistently annoys me, these days.
Donna and Jerry are both genius, and it would suck if they weren't on the show. The end of the last episode was a classic Jerry scene, even though I missed the payoff, after Leslie responded to him, because we watched the shows out of order from Thursday.
