to be fair, in Invention of Lying (a movie that could have been so much better) he's basically a ******, so probably this.

This is the first time I've seen Louis ck. Was he supposed to be playing his own typical character or something? I found him just weird and not funny

Louis thought playing drunk in that movie involved just keeping his eyes closed while saying his lines. Cringe-inducing.

i dont want to take this even more off course, but Ricky Gervais's movie career has been a flop. His best role is the dickhead museum manager if any.

Not thrilled this is getting bumped for a month or two, but at least will get to enjoy watching the entire Thursday night block all at once when Up All Night is done-zo

The weeks it's off the air would have been mostly reruns anyway, so it's not that big of a deal imo.

"I've said before that the greatest influence on this show is The Wire," Schur says through blue lips. "We'd never have a season without Amy, of course," he adds, referring to The Wire's mostly McNulty-free fourth season. "But killing homeless people? Sure. Why not?"

I really liked this episode a lot, eventhough Tom/Ann having a future irks me. Steve Heisler from the AV Club does a great job of summarizing my thoughts.

Quote:
I’m choosing not to focus much on the ramifications of this storyline, because even though Tom and Ann certainly were arguing over trivial things, the show hasn’t shown us any moments where they really get each other as far as the big things go. Their relationship started on a superficial level, and thus superficial arguments carry much more weight than they might in, say, Ben and Leslie’s relationship. Both Tom and Ann are operating themselves based on the idea of their romance, not the reality. Tom claims Ann is his dream girl; Ann thinks Tom’s a nice enough guy that he should be cut a little slack. Back in reality, we all know it’s not going to last, and probably so do the writers. So it’s going to go away.

terrific episode. chris/andy stuff was awesome. April was great. and anything Jerry related works for me.

Line of the episode for me was "Jerry's work is often adequate"

agree on tom/ann being ass though.

I wrote a big dumb thing about this before I watched the ep http://iamdids.tumblr.com/post/18169...-parks-and-rec

Everything but Ann/Tom and April's overagressive camera mugging was great. Good to remind me that there's a lot about the show I like.

The Ann/Tom stuff is just terrible. I don't understand how somebody is dumb enough to write an ep that makes the case against both their relationship and Tom as anybody's anything but at the same time telegraphs they'll stick together.

But something about how bad it is, and just how stupid it is makes me able to better compartmentalize and ignore it. Ann and Tom were never my favorite characters, and for some reason I'm not feeling like I was when I wrote that rant. I still have faith in the show.

I don't really buy the quote Pudge posted above mostly because I think they've written Ann in a way where she should specifically dislike Tom.

The only slightly forgivable aspect of this is that Tom wasn't the terrible baby talking whine fest he was last week.

Again- I liked the rest a lot, but annoyed enough by the bad stuff that it's what I'm going to focus on for a while.

I liked Donna's minute of screentime, so there's that. Ron/Leslie was just sort of boring, and Ann/Tom with an assist from April is super AIDS. It just makes no sense on any level, how did the same people who are responsible for the rest of this show also come up with that idea? Drunk April might be some of the least convincing acting ever too

Yeah.

Audrey Plaza has one note, and it's a really good note and I could listen to it forever. Asking her to do more than deadpan snark and occasional happy face at Andy is not a good idea.

Average episode. I liked Andy's storyline with the dog, i liked some of Ron's lines ("is that all the eggs we have ?" "...yea... what are you making ?" "eggs." made me rofl), i liked the bit of Jerry we had.

Besides that, April drunk was bad acting imo. It felt awkward but not in the good way P&R uses to be, and not convincing at all.

Tom is annoying me more and more. He has become my least favorite character on the show.

Donna i always found her meh, but it seems that now all she does is her weird big eyes thing every episode and that's it. Her character is boring and tbh i could do without her in the cast.

Re: Tom/Ann relationship : i dont think it will last because i dont get why Ann "accepts" this relationship in the first place (cf. last week's "you wore me down"). I mean it's not consistent with the personnality of Ann, and I liked Tom more when he thought he had a chance with anyone (especially Ann) without actually ever scoring.

Agreed on Ron/Leslie being pretty predictable, while the show is obv still great I'm hoping season 5 shakes up the character dynamics a little since it seems like the writers are dangerously close to treading the same ground repeatedly.

That said Chris/Andy was really good, and while Tom/Ann was pretty dumb I think it could be argued their characters would be even more useless if they were by themselves so I'll trust the writers figure out a way to make it funny.
