House Dwyer should have been "THE MENTAL IN FUNDAMENTAL".

Those are pretty excellent except that I can't tell what the thing in House Traeger is supposed to be. And House Knope has what looks like a sewage grate.

Pink razor.

Ah, it is a pink razor. It looked more like a razor than anything else but I'd forgotten that storyline.

Waffle would be helped immensely with syrup, or if the syrup traps (is there a real word for those?) weren't the same color as the background.

That was a disappointing episode, less Ben/Leslie please

Yeah probably one of the worst in a while. Hopefully now that Leslie and Ben got the I love you out of the way we can move on a bit. They kinda had to have an episode like this really after mentioning how they can't be together and there will be consequences so many times. I think they're smart enough to move away from it now though. The talent they have at their disposal is too good and they have to know that.

I thought it was okay. This is a generally great show, but if they have a flaw it's often trying too hard for that cheesy-but-undercut-by-irony thing that pops up now and again. In other words, they present a sappy moment that they really want you to get choked up by, but they couch it in a layer of self-awareness so they don't get accused of being cornball.

The only episode that rode this line to perfection was the Andy-April wedding, because the emotion felt so genuine that there was no other way to sell it. But here, as with a lot of the other times it tries to get sappy, you could tell the writers were patting themselves on the back for being so tear-jerking, but also proud that they came up with that court-stenographer transcript gimmick. "See, we don't actually hear them say I Love You so it's not actually sappy!"

Yes it is.

Loved this. As Sepinwall pointed out- it's basically a rom com ep, and I guess I can understand why some people didn't like it, but I thought it was fantastic. Really got me at the end. Great job of using the old lady to get the emotion across but not make it totally sappy.

Dunno about this. What happened here kinda wraps up the storyline of their relationship in terms of being a focus I assume. Now they're just together, and I assume the big through line of the rest of the season will be her campaign.

Some good stuff, but a lot of stuff that had a clip-show feeling or was in danger of hitting the same notes for our characters over and over again. The ending was pretty damn funny though-- the first stenographer scene (the cutaway to Chris bawling was great) and the Garry Gergich scene.

BTW-- someone pointed this out on another site-- if you freeze-frame the scene from last ep where Jerry/Gerry/Garry shows Tom his old ID from the 70s, you can see the name on it is clearly "Garry Gergich".

Ben resigned, and as far as I could tell, that's going to remain in place. It will be sad if he ends up "basically" off the show, and that damn Chris gets to stay. Most of Ben and Leslie's best scenes were on projects they were doing together that were NOT necessarily exhibiting their overt affections for each other.

I'm just waiting for the Knope campaign signs to show up. Then we can have an episode about how vandals keep putting an X over the K. Then maybe we'd find out it was Leslie, trying to sabotage her own campaign. She better lose.

I loved the Garry/Jerry tag. It absolutely sums up how everyone treats his character, and that it's been going on since he first got there...lol.

Completely agree.

Not positive this exactly fits what you're describing, but the "sappy" scene involving Ron and Leslie just didn't "land" for me. It felt very forced - and usually the Ron/Leslie more sappy moments work imo.

Again, completely agreed. This episode was a swing and a miss for me overall.

Agreed, and Andy trying to fulfill all the tasks just to keep April from not moving to Indy, resulting in them kissing, was a genuine heartfelt moment.

I thought it was kind of cheesy. How much emotion can you feel for Leslie and Ben? Their entire storyline lacks emotion and makes the show more boring.

I think Adam Scott's making it work somehow despite, imo, the sort of poor staging/writing of the Leslie/Ben romance. That guy's a great actor imo.

I agreed with you at the beginning of the Leslie/Ben arc, but think it's a bit more heartfelt now. Just didn't work this past episode - kind of to your point, getting to heartfelt moments with Leslie/Ben has a lot less margin for error vs. Andy/April, which feels more organic somehow.

Total grunch here.

I've been blazing through the whole series in the past week or so. I'm glad I didn't stop after the pretty boring season 1. Reminded me of The Office which I do not like. At this point my ranking of characters is as follows

Ron
Andy
Ben
LARGE GAP HERE
April
Tom
Jerry
Ann
Donna
Leslie
Chris

Awesome show. I'm about 5 episodes off from being current.
