She's doing something unprecedented, and at level that is beyond all expectations. Like even if she was just playing two characters, say Cosima and Helena, it would be the greatest performance by a female on a TV series. Seriously, cite a better one.
The main reason I'm not ready to crown her yet is not really her fault. Her individual characters have no depth (in contrast to all of the examples that you gave). What she's doing is closer to doing a bunch of impressions than it is to the great performances to which you're comparing her.

Imagine a show with a bunch of Meryl Streep clones. You don't think Streep could pull of at least as good a performance?

It's not Maslany's fault that her characters don't have that much depth. There's only so much time in the show and there are so many clones. She is very likely is capable of more, but we haven't seen it. Unless the show gets rid of some clones or goes for a lot more seasons, we probably won't see it.

I'm sure the above sounds more negative than I intend it. She is doing a very good acting job, but not GOAT level (yet).

I thought as a whole this season was better than s2. Maybe it's due to expectations? S1 was 2nd tier, s2 was barely 3rd tier, and I felt this season was solidly in the 3rd. For me it's just a fun guilty pleasure type of show.

Would definitely be down for an allison weeds type spinoff.

Man what a great find this show has been for me. Just like everone else I am entranced by Maslani's performance throughout

Welp, Maslany finally got an Emmy nod.

I had been on the fence about watching this show until last week, when I saw Maslany got nominated for an emmy. I marathoned all 3 seasons over the past week, and it was well worth it. Very good show and Maslany definitely deserved to get the nomination. I found myself forgetting several times that she is actually playing all of the characters, that's how different the characters are. Amazing.

As for how I felt about the most recent season, I didn't care for the male clone plotline. I'm happy to see that storyline looks to be mostly over with, season 4 storyline seems to be in a better direction from the seeds they planted (female scientist being alive, neolution being a bigger corporation than was led to believe). Season 3 was awesome if only for the breaking bad subplot and helena alone

Excellent season but the male clones did get a little boring. Still, this show is much better than most shows on right now.

I would prefer to watch this uncut. Is there somewhere online to do so? I have cable, but only get BBC America. It's not censored terribly bad I don't think. I just hate that it is censored at all. Thanks!

I didn't think the clones ever knew each other but Ep1 showed that Beth talked with Alison and Casima.

Yeah they did. It's partially how Sarah was introduced to Allison and Casima iirc. She showed up outside their house when they were supposed to have a meeting with Beth. This was probably in ep 1 or 2 of the first season. Beth was basically investigating the stuff and filling in Allison/Casima at weekly get togethers

Yeah, Sarah had Beth's phone and was pretending to be Beth while talking to Alison/Cosima very early in the series.

Loving the season so far. It is kind of awkward that they seem to be just dumping Dyad/male clones business, but I'm glad the focus is where it should be and they're going back to the roots of the show.

This week's episode was very good! Liking what appears to be the new trajectory.

"oh noes, there was malware in that hard drive and its deleting all our research!!!"

Really? I have my porn collection backed up on an external HD. You're telling me these super nerds wouldn't have years of life-saving research backed up somewhere? It's amazing how dumb TV writers are about anything related to computers.

I still love this show but that made me lol.

I wonder where Helena went. I hope this doesn't mean less Helena. Less Helena bad. More Helena good.

I was waiting for Helena to sniper off earmuff cop before he executed the original.

Only 2 episodes left this season. It doesn't seem like anything happened.

My wife fell asleep during last episode and this morning she asked what she missed, not much I could say. They killed Earmuffs. I have enjoyed this season but yeah, I can't think of a lot of stuff that happened.

I think that is kind of a good thing. The show is narrowing its focus and being more character-based in a way that I think is better than the non-stop plotting of earlier seasons.

Helena killing that Brightborn thug at the last second was so predictable, but I'm glad she's back.

Well, I guess that wraps up the season? Meh. This show used to do a much better job at hiding the fact that it's actually kinda dumb.

Just caught up. Last episode was pretty weak after what I thought was a good season.

My daughter volunteers every year at Comic Con here in San Diego as a chaperone for celebrity panels. Today she gets Orphan Black. She texted me this morning: 'Tatiana introduced herself to me she's the nicest person ever!'. Yeah, I'm jealous.

Tatiana! Emmy winner!

Yes, from her appearances on interview shows, Comedy Bang Bang, etc. she seems like a delightful person. Yay!
