I guess we should use spoiler tags for a week or so.
Eps 1-3
Spoiler:
Feels bit more plot-heavy than previous seasons, which is nice I guess. I'm not sure if we really need so many new characters though. I guess the season ends with Linda and Joe genuinely making Litchfield a better place. Not sure what is happening with the runaway girl? No one has noticed she is missing?
Hoping once I get used to the new setting it'll be easier, but so far it's like trying to get into a new show that I wouldn't keep watching if it actually were new
Couple new villains that turned out great. The setting is new, it's all a bit darker. Season wrapped up nicely, too.
I didn't enjoy the first episode too much either.
Overall, I think they did a better job connecting all those random story arcs and didn't flood the season with unrelated flashbacks, many of those flashbacks actually filled gaps in the overall story arc.
overall im enjoying the season so far. i'm about halfway through, and this is no way a spoiler, but i'll put in spoiler tags anyway for the super anal spoiler *****
in episode 6 or 7
Spoiler:
i just watched a riveting scene where they took a quiz in a magazine
Enjoyed most of the latina and black character arcs. Piper and Vause were their standard useless selves, and can't stand anything to do with Suzanne's character anymore. Badison interesting enough character - will be especially curious to see what happens next season. Carol and Barb was a great storyline to build up all year, but I am pretty disappointed with the lack of time given to the resolution with them. I wondered all season what the "that's interesting" it was they found out about Blanca - great topical resolution to that in the end.
My overall thoughts - enjoyable enough season, I thought the finale was a little disappointing.
jfc, the end was brutal. when blanca got took by ice, the look on her face, and her man waiting to pick her up. and of course poor tasty going down for murder. damn. ending was so sad, kinda wish i didn't watch it.
Just finished and enjoyed the new season. Definitely watchable and enjoyable enough but I would say that this series has run its course. There are definitely story lines to expound on for future seasons but if there were no more that would be fine too.
Are we talking about Season 6 here? The title says season 4.
I am most of the way through the season, in the middle on 10, and one of my lingering questions for me is why is Black Cindy is keeping her mouth shut about her and Suzanne knowing who the real Piscatella shooters are? Yea, in episode 1 she was like "we were never here", but I can't see any motivation for her continuing to keep her silence once Tastee gets charged with murder.
Not getting tortured and murdered by guards for exposing a crime they covered up seems like good motivation to me. I figure thats why they denied even being there. If guards find out they were there, they might assume they saw thing and come after them. I figure thats why Cindy tried to leak it to Caputo anonymously.
That makes sense in the moment, but not after the fact. Those SWAT guys are not the regular guards, so their opportunities for "murder and torture" seem exceedingly low.

Basically because she testified about her not knowing anything and the deal plea going away if she changes her story. Also because her story vs guards' story, a lot of risk to come forward.
Thought it was pretty good. Although it had much stronger political message than earlier seasons, I felt it fit the show. Poor Maritza.
But oh boy, Daya is such an awful person. She literally has no redeeming qualities, and we had to suffer her all of 7 seasons as one of the mains. Ditto for Lorna.
Liked the Joe & Fig story.
Gloria happy end, yay. One of the few legitimately likeable characters.
Sad to see Pennsatucky die after her long redemption arc and finally finding a place only for Daya to F it up.
Poetic justice to see Taystee's sabotage letter sabotage her own court case.
This was actually the first season I liked the Piper scenes. Even Suzanne was bearable.
no spoilers. i loved the last season. cried like a baby through most of it lol
i did skip most of the piper scenes though. what i love about this show is how it tells the stories of people you never see in other shows. you see characters like piper in any show. i want to see the other characters.
and i loved at the end when the credits are rolling on the last episode they have the actors saying goodbye. and you can tell how much it meant to some of them to be on the show.
