Manny: I don't want my throat to close up.
Luke: Wouldn't be the worst thing.

Alex: What book did you read that in?
Luke: Book? Wake up and smell the internet, grandma!

pj's post makes me think that the deliveries are so good that even the obvious lines are funny.

I wasn't liking the episode but I came around by the end. It really is all about the delivery for this show.

I love love loved the Cam/Mitchell plotline. Just a great example of a funny story that you can do with a gay couple you couldn't otherwise.

Hated most of the rest, but then I also fell asleep so maybe it worked out a bit better. Felt like the hating on the kids part could have been really good, but they didn't totally pull it off.

Gloria calling Claire diablo made me lose it. Good episode.

Manny continues to be a terrible actor. It's like he honestly doesn't think about how a single one of his lines should be delivered in advance.

It's like a total coinflip- if you poll anybody who watches the show, they'll think one of Luke or Manny is the worst thing ever, both as a character and an actor, and love the other. I have yet to see any pattern emerge.

Both strike me as acceptable for kid actors, and mostly funny- although Luke more consistently than Manny, as Manny's whole bit is a bit stale.

how about the pattern that anyone who likes manny better than luke is an idiot?

Very good episode. The Cam/Mitchell plot wasn't only the best plot for those 2 in quite awhile, but it was one of the better MF plots in awhile. It's about time they used to two correctly, cause they're both play the roles well but haven't had anything good to work with for most of this season.

I'm not even talking about their characters, tho. Manny is just a horrible, horrible, horrible actor. He delivers his lines atrociously and never understands which of his words/beats he's supposed to be emphasising.

Manny in season 1 was hysterical.

It makes sense if you look at each kid's wiki page. Apparently the kid who plays luke has several years of training and likely got the part because he's good. The kid who plays Manny has had no training and likely got the part because of his sister.

I guess I always just give kid actors something of a pass because real life kids are so ****ing weird that any performance/delivery seems plausible and it's easier to say "that is just a weird kid" than get too deep in the skills of a 10 year old. Regardless of why, Manny makes me laugh and the times I don't has more to do with the writing and plot than the kid himself.
