Thought it was a good episode, but not near as good as some of the ones mid-season.
I found the dialogue between Virginia and female doctor to be kinda poor at the beginning. It almost felt like they weren't trying (when the doc was telling her "jokes"). Rarely on this show have I felt like that, in fact this might have been the very first time. Most shows have a few moments like that per episode, even, so not much complaints in all.
Loved the scenes with Ethan and Virginia's baby daddy. That was some good, entertaining stuff. From the time he showed up until the time he walked away, all great.
Not at all what I expected from the finale, but I loved what we got.
I thought the presentation wouldn't go over well, then Virginia would save the day or something similar. And then the entire episode would turn into a The West Wing "Let Bartlett be Bartlett" type of episode.
But I really enjoyed the overall somberness of it. I was crushed right along with Bill when everything went to ****.
Awesome season . I have a feeling the mole on Virginia's breast is going to me a major factor is season 2. Crazy that this is based about 55 years ago and A) teh sex creeps out medical elite b) the auditorium looked like a Macua poker room with everybody smoking
I thought for sure that the ex-husband was going to do something to Haas when he approached him after the kids got on the bus. But maybe that would've been too predictable.
i need a new show that is even remotely close to this level of quality. i got nothing right now. has to be something new because let's just go ahead and assume i've seen anything already out on DVR etc.
Finally watched the finale. It felt a bit like two episodes smooshed into one, and having pretty much each major storyline end with a "cliffhanger" is not something I'm normally a fan of. But I still really enjoyed it. I think that Sheen has the ability and - assuming the writing stays up to par - the opportunity to turn this into one of the great male roles of this decade.
I read somewhere that the book this is based on depicts Virginia in a much more favorable light than Masters. And she's definitely coming off better on screen. But this doesn't affect my enjoyment of the show. Masters is a complicated character and far from perfect, but I'm still rooting for him.
Just watched the last episode and then instantly bought the book. Definitely one of my favorite series on TV recently. +1 to all the praise for the cast, holy ****. Allison Janney is always so money.
