good episode. i like the hard ass woman doctor. how ****ing furious would you be if you had terminal cancer just because of some bull**** prejudice against women in the medical world? and it would have been so easy to prevent, and you have the answer but no one will listen to you.

it's funny because what she is doing is actually much more important and far reaching than the silly masters and johnson sex study.

is mrs masters gonna hook up with the black guy?

the tall, older woman is a good actress. i could have lived without seeing her boobs though

I just love this show to death. I think it's the best tv show around and will be top 5 evaaa if they keep up this quality over time.

It operates at emotional depths that other shows can't touch. And the way it treats older characters as real people is to be applauded.

The acting on this show is easily the best I've ever seen on a TV series. Allison Janney is so good as the provost's wife.

Loved the conversation about marriage scene between the two docs.

she was fantastic in the scene where she was interviewing for the sex study. that was just heartbreaking.

the whole cast acted their asses off in the dead baby episode

Seconded. The acting is on another level. Everyone is incredible, as a person above said there is not much to say about this show other than it is consistently great I think it will just get better as it goes along.

I was watching Final Destination 74 the other night and the young obstetrician was on it.

I like how they've looped him from an obsessed (abusive) lover into a real person

I hope Janney wins a supporting emmy

I feel like they are spending the exact proper amount of time on each story and character.

So I guess Virginia is gonna be mad Masters is keeping her back and they "split" by seasons end?

I agree, and touched upon this earlier in the thread. It does such a great job in pacing and character development. I find it refreshing to see a show that works well as a traditional, straight ahead narrative and storytelling vehicle. In fact, the only time I really felt the show swung and missed so far was the episode where they flashed back to the early interactions between Master and Scully.

She probably deserves the supporting comedy emmy too. Her performance in "Mom" in the last episode was amazing.

Janney will be in the guest actress category I would think and I think she is likely to get a nomination. Her work on this show is among the best of her career.

Not a West Wing fan? That is all-time level. Carrie Matthison may surpass it, but AJ in TWW is the best performance for a woman in a TV show ever.

I am a huge west wing fan. She was great in that too.

I think it is possible she will be nominated for best guest actress in a drama and best supporting actress in a comedy series at next years emmys (and deservedly so.) I wonder if that would make her the first actor to be nominated in a drama category and a comedy category in the same year.

Edit: Michael J. Fox was nominated for guest actor in drama and comedy for The Good Wife and Curb in 2012

I think I agree, on both the champion and the successor

Janney's been killing it on Masters of Sex too, obviously. Lots of great performances on this show. I thought this week was one of the best episodes.

yea was wondering how much seasons a show like this can continue on for.

Loved 2nights episode!!!, dats all i gotta say, love how doctor masters didn't want to be anything like his father & broke it off with virginia even though you can tell it pained him to do so, the acting is very well done.

They have done an amazing job of presenting us with characters that may be unlikeable at first and then exposing their fears and insecurities, giving them true humanity.
