Thought the show was interesting, but not great. Looked good.

Recommend Dan Carlin's "Wrath of the Kahns" podcast. Long, but great history show.

the thing with this show is it could be so much more...but instead it's just a piece of soap opera with occasional fighting and gratuitous nudity.

this is a man that's gonna end up controlling the biggest empire in history...instead we're spending too much time caring about that stupid love triangle thing.

I'll join the co nsensus that it was good, not great.

If you're looking for a better done stranger-in-a-strange-land story, try Shogun. I've read the book a few times and it's excellent - from what I remember, the mini series was pretty good also. Obviously the 'inspiration' for this show and superior overall.

Agree it'd be better if it didn't have all the stupid fight scenes and kung fu. The romantic angles weren't too bad though.

IIRC Kublai wasn't great Khan and thus didn't control the entire Mongolian empire. Just China & Mongolia and korea IIRC. So I don't think thats true.

The fight scenes (think crouching tiger) are the second best part after the UtraHD 4K nudity. Just watched 4 episodes in a row, I would highly recommend this as top notch entertainment. All lowbrow entertainment are "soap operas" since the time of Dickens and Dumas.

They should just make that podcast series a show.

Where the Mongols just go around killing and raping everyone.

Make it super realistic and dark. Show heads getting chopped off and arrows flying the through people every ten minutes.

I've probably listened to that series a good 4 times all the way through, I'd be so pumped. HBO would need to do it.

Liking this show so far a lot. Went back and watched the 1st season and it was better than I remember. The kung fu stuff is a bit silly but still enjoy the 100 eyes character. Hearing they might not do a 3rd season which would be a bummer.

8 episodes into season 1 and I dont really care to even watch the last couple episodes.
The characters suck and the plot is almost nonexistent. There is nothing complex about this show at all and several episodes have been so boring I literally dozed off for a couple minutes.

There needs to be more going on. Or more specifically, more that the viewer should care about it. Some of the backdrops are breathtaking, but when nothing is going on in those beautiful locations, who cares?

The frequency of tits would almost save the show - if the women were attractive. But for the most part, they're not.
I was really disappointed overall with the show.
