Okay, let's give this a shot.

First off, Mad Men is amazing at re-introducing characters after their lives have changed - Kinsey being a prime example, but Pete Campbell in his LA outfit talking up pastrami and vibrations was gold. Gold because Pete's never really had an ethos of his own, so it fits with his character as well - Campbell comes from this old New York family but he's moved farther and farther away from that.

Was I the only person waiting for Don's landing in LA and Megan picking him up to be some sort of whiskey-driven fantasy? Which to some degree it is - we see Don watching lots of television, which seems odd for him (and of course there's him buying Megan a TV and everything that implies)

Mad Men has the weirdest kids. That 'upstairs neighbor' kid was like a carbon copy of Glen, at least in the way how he talked like an alien. I mean, children have a different way of talking, but .. yeah.

There's tons more in here - and who didn't laugh at Ken throwing the earring horribly - but I'll leave it there for now. I forgot how much I missed this show.

Haha I loved the Freddy pitch to start out the show. Just screamed DD throughout. Wasn't quite sure what that meant until he walked into DD's apt. Guess that's why I don't write about TV for a living.

I wonder about the Peggy woe is me thing and how that is going to progress throughout the end of the show. Is she ever going to get some resolution or continue to get **** on by the men of the show forever?

Neve Campbell lookin good.

No, the first thing I thought when the camera cut to slow motion was "this probably isn't real."

Even if we step away from her personal life, one of the things that surprised me most was Peggy reporting to Lou Avery. We saw him enter the SC&P office with Duck at the end of season 6, but the show made it seem like Peggy was going to be promoted from within to the #2 behind Ted; the specific line from the last episode was something like 'Ted Feels he can handle Peggy from L.A.' Couple that with the final scene of Peggy in Don's chair and it seems like she was undeservedly skipped over. Granted, we saw that Peggy had almost no ability to interact with Ted during this episode which could be part of the reason behind Avery's status, but I was surprised that she was in the same position after the writing set her up for so much more.

Things I loved this ep:
Kens back, one eyed and running ****.
Joan using her brain.
Pete just delightfully weird. His hair is joke now right?
Don creating the ads, was a nice twist.
Roger sterling living the life only few can imagine. Full on hedonistic ad man
Megan- meh.
No Betty!

So did Ken lose that eye? I got the impression from him saying "I'm fine" or whatever that the patch was temporary. If not then that's kind of a bummer man. And the depth perception jokes were a big swing and a miss for me.

It's only two months after the last finale so it could still be healing.

solid first ep , liked that they went back to single ep season premiere , most of the ep went by fast and was a good catch up to what happened last season .

also Neve Campbell <3

If they did a two episode premiere then that's 28% of the season in one night.

I would love to see Kinsey resurface this season. I want more Pete of course, and more Bob Benson from Accounts. Hopefully Megan gets eaten by the Manson family.

I totally forgot about this until I saw it in my recorded shows list. So good to have it back, sucks that they're doing the 7/7 format though. The Draper-Rumsen team reveal was fantastic.

already such a huge change in Don, old Don snap goes home with that woman on the plane, just cause he can. Interesting to see if he holds off all season... i tend to doubt it.

Also Pete... ive always hated pete. Find him annoying and snively, but i love new hippy adapted pete. more of that forsure.

Agree with the series ending with Peggy as partner or head of her own firm. I dont think Don's ending is so easily predicatable though. I can't see him being content with any part of his current life, so a lot of change coming for him, I'm just not sure how.

He didn't hit it because she basically said **** Madison Avenue without knowing that he IS Madison Avenue early in the convo. The look on his face said he wasn't going to waste any extra time on her beyond flirtation in a confined space to keep himself from boredom.

For as out of place as the airline scene was it didn't seem to accomplish as much as it should've if they're going to stick something like that in the episode.

I always forget tons of things about this show. I thought the eye thing was something brand new. All I can remember is a bunch of the Chevy guys taking Ken on a joy ride and Pete getting behind the wheel in the GM lobby and wrecking a car.
