Pretty long drive
The tickets were to a movie theater showing the fight on closed circuit television.

I thought the tickets were to like some big screen watching of the fight?

Whoops, nevermind.

One of the best episodes of tv I can remember. The ghost dream was 20 seconds of meh but everything else was amazing.

Re: Mad Men season 4: "Move Forward."

Amazing episode.

Sadly ,I think a hook up between Don and Peggy is inevitable at this point. Don opening up to her at the same time Anna dies is too much of a coincidence for it not to happen. The major rift in Don's life has always been that, other than Anna, he couldn't trust anyone to let them know who he really is.

As he hinted at in their argument tonight, he knows Peggy has her own secrets that she has been able to carry much like Don did with his identity. Between that and the other ways their lives/careers have paralleled, I think it is bound to happen, The Duck incident tonight might delay it till next season, but it will happen.

Pocket Trips,

I think Peggy's going to become the "New Anna" in Don's life. The platonic (???) woman in his life that he can open up to.

I wouldn't be shocked if some sort of romance took place, but I don't think it's inevitable by any means.

Excellent ep, really near perfectly done.

Reminded me of Breaking Bad's season 3 ep "The Fly" in a number of ways.

Re: Mad Men season 4: "Move Forward."

I just thought of something about last episode. I thought Betty was the model in the poster in the fur store, but I also recall Roger saying at some point he introduced Don to Betty? (i think in the episode where Don uses Betty as an example of housewives that will but Heinekin.)

Mikey Patriot,

IIRC Don was already married to Betty when Anna tracked him down, and even though he obviously loved Anna they couldn't be together. Peggy represents an opportunity for Don to combine emotional and physical love in the same relationship which would be the motivation for him to pull out of the downward spiral his life is in at the moment.

Personally I am hoping it doesn't happen because it would be disastrous for Peggy, but there are too many signs indicating it will happen for it not to.

Don went to see Anna and get a divorce so he could marry Betty.

Re: Mad Men season 4: "Move Forward."

- I don't recall Roger ever saying he set up Betty and Don, but it's possible.

- Don meets Anna before Betty

- My impression was always that Don and Anna were never romantically linked. Anna, it appeared to me, was interested in Don but Don loved her in a different, motherly, way. Her reaction to his news about Betty made this clear to me, she was sad and he was like a kid telling his mom about the girl he just met. He also wanted her at the wedding.

- So now we know more about the famous Dr. Lyle Evans!! This is going to be like Mad Men's smoke monster soon.

Re: Mad Men season 4: "Move Forward."

Wow...

Don/Peggy has been my favorite relationship throughout the series so this episode was like a wet dream. Hamm and Moss were so incredible throughout and in the phone call scene in particular. Don breaking down and Peggy's shock/concern reaction was so perfectly played. This will be an emmy submitted episode for Hamm and Moss I would think. I liked how things were happening in both their lives that made them extra sensitive and gave way to the emotional blowout they needed to have before they could open up to each other and then how they revealed things gradually while drinking throughout the night and then things culminated with the phone call scene. Such a well written episode that made this emotional breakthrough seem organic. Truly one of the finest episodes in the series.

Re: Mad Men season 4: "Move Forward."

from what I recall, Don mentioned Betty when he told Anna about their marriage. He said he met her on a shoot, which easily could have been for the fur coat add.

Hamm + Moss killed it this episode. +1 to best Mad Men ever. How are they going to top that??

Re: Mad Men season 4: "Move Forward."

awesome awesome episode.

Another brilliant moment as the real Don gets exposed, you see him when he talks about boxing he throws stiff jabs and everything. Then you see him try to give the lamest punch ive ever seen to Duck as he gets completely neutralized (yea yea he was drunk but still ill have to rewatch that punch. lol)

Re: Mad Men season 4: "Move Forward."

Such a goddam depressing episode. I loved it.

Peggy going into the bathroom and crying after Don tore her a new ass hole got me really choked up. Then the fact that the two of them bonded after the fight; just so many layers of meaning to that. How Peggy responded to Don's outburst... ("You never thanked me" "That's what the money was for!")... and how he fell asleep in her lap... such an incredible show. And so terrifically sad.
