Haven't seen a thread on this, I'm just getting caught up on this today. I have to say that I really dig this show. Watching Girls then this show in succession makes me kind of sad that I'm not gay -- being gay seems pretty great if it's anything like the show.

I really like the lead character and his Latino boyfriend. Actually I like all the characters, it's a really appealing cast.

It's already been picked up for a second season, so that's good.

Also I don't want to sound gay or anything but the Latino boyfriend is pretty sexy. Actor is going to be a star imo.

I've seen the first 2 eps and really liked them a lot. I'll check out the rest at some point soon.

The AVClub loves it. I don't think they've had an episode get less then a B+ so far, mostly A's.

Man I think I have a pretty high tolerance to not being offput by gay love scenes in film and TV but towards the middle there that was basically softcore gay porn. My brother in law just sat down and was all hey what you watching like 45 seconds before that scene too, lol awkward

Pretty good episode though.

This show seems a lot like Girls, not only in the setup but also in how all the main characters are pretty flawed. I like it a lot so far though, obv the beautiful backdrop of San Francisco helps. <3

Show is back and off to a pretty strong start. Maybe it's a little out of 2+2's demographic tho

I caught the first three episodes of the first season of Looking on a plane ride this summer, and quickly watched the next five shortly thereafter. I quite enjoyed them.

Agreed. Downton Abbey is another very good show that you could describe this way.

Mind you, I'm a pretty big HBO fanboy, I watch every show they air these days. Getting On is another one that my wife and I both like.

That's funny, I was just watching S1E1 one right now. It's really really gay. Gay with a capital G. Seems well-made.

I've been following the AVClub's reviews of this after I've watched the eps and I think I have to stop doing that. I enjoy this show because its well made, the acting is good, the character are interesting. It's just a damn good show. But what the reviewer is getting of the episodes is not something I would arrive at if I studied it for years. Makes me wonder if I'm not smart to understand aspects of this show, or if the reviewer is just that deep into it. Not being gay might have a bit to do with my reaction to those reviews, but I'm kind of fascinated by just how much the reviewer gets out of it, and how much less I get from it.

Not watching so can't answer but they get the episodes in advance so maybe he/she thinks about it all week until he figures out what to write?

That's probably true, and this is a show I won't ever rewatch. It was the same with some of the older Mad Men reviews on that site too. I'm like "What the hell show are you watching?" Cause your show is so much better. Learned a lot from those in regards to Mad Men.

Episode. It was good but borderline gay softcore porn

Watched the first two episodes of season 2. Seems like it is a true to life graphic depiction of gay life in San Francisco AFAIK. Well-acted, well-written show, but I was dumbfounded. Are most of the actors gay in real life? The characters are likeable, yet they seem like from another planet. No offense.

If those two dudes in the last episode aren't gay they deserve an academy award

I'm caught up on this. It's a very good show. Main character reminds me of my brother.

I thought the last episode may have been the best of the series. Really interested in all three main characters and their relationships

I'm not so interested in the guy with the beard but the other two relationships are pretty interesting. The guy with the beard is kind of a meh character, I don't really know anything about him, while I feel like the other two are much better developed. Like I don't even know what the beard guy does for a living. I'd add that I don't know his name but I don't know anybody's name on the show now that I'm trying to remember. Is someone called Adam?

In season 1 he was a ****ty artist. Now he's a failed artist. He just took a minimum wage job working with underprivileged kids.

More broadly, being a directionless mooch is pretty much his defining characteristic.

I think his name is Agustin.

Anyway, this show is hugely underrated imo. After the first episode or two I thought I was going to hate it, but I've found it genuinely touching mostly because the character development is really natural and believable. It's like Girls if that show let the characters grow. Or regress. Or just change at all.

This was the best episode of season 2 imo, Patrick's drunken embarrassment.
