Re: Justified: Season 3

I love the way Dickie looks when he is in his jumpsuit, so dirty and hillarious with his hair, big mustach, and his shirt unbuttoned so low. Jeremy Davies in that courtroom was just great. Same with Raylan, his boss and the prosecutor were just like ok, wtf is he talking about.

If the showdown between Raylan and Quarles happened in that bar, it still would of been great. It would of been unexpected but the tension was ramped up real fast, Duffy was great too, he definantly didn't want to be there.

Boyd with his FU speech to Quarles was great too.

There are only a handfull of shows that hit on all cyclinders for a long period of time but this is definantly one of them.

Seriously. Boyd has more spine than Shane ever did

Think we need more seasons of Justified for that to be a serious discussion, but right now the quality is supremely high imo.

It was a little unclear how the nepotism rule worked for the election though. It looked like Boyd just put her to work the day before the election or something and because of that Napier was ineligible despite having been running for election for some time...?

The more laconic and soft Boyd talks, the more the tension ramps up. If Boyd ever lapses into a coma, I'm going to have a heart attack.

What makes The Shield so good as that it had the most satisfying final season of any drama ever. The characters in Justified are much more likable, which makes it an easier watch.

Speaking of The Shield can anyone think of any TV actor that delivered two performances as good and as different as Walton Goggins?

Edit:
Is Michael C. Hall really good in SFU?
Hank Kingsley/George Bluth are two great performances, but pretty similar.

I could watch 45 minute episode of Limehouse giving monologues while butchering pigs.

Re: Justified: Season 3

I am loving Wynn Duffy's expressions whenever Quarles goes off the deep end.

Someone on another forum I belong to pointed the following out that I thought was funny:

Duffy is a guy that threatened someone and said, "I'm going to take a machete and a blowtorch and I'm going to make your body as small as I possibly can."

He is terrified of Quarles.

I like the fact Raylan is heading down a similar, albeit less self destructive path as Quarles and those paths are going to collide like crossing the streams in Ghostbusters. It is going to make the last few episodes lots of fun.

As for the debate of Justified vs. The Shield. I think Justified has the smarter writing. It doesn't suspend disbelief nearly as much as TS did imo. I love both, but think Justified is a level above so far.

Yes. IMO david/dexter > shane/boyd. And I love me some shane/boyd.

Re: Justified: Season 3

Justified is my fifth-favorite show of all time and climbing.

Three episodes remain. I agree that knowing of Quarles' hidden gun really ramps up the tension for a scene like the one in the bar. Obviously I knew Raylan wasn't going to die there and was pretty sure he wouldn't suffer a non-fatal wound and be laid up for the final three episodes, but I wasn't at all sure Quarles wasn't getting got. That's the beauty of having so many awesome bad guys.

Awesome ep from start to finish. The grandmother asking for 2 milkshakes and spilling one on Raylan's pants was hilarious.

Re: Justified: Season 3

given the history/view we have of Duffy I'm finding it a bit unbelievable that he doesnt just shoot Quarles and move on

Like someone posted before in the thread, I keep expecting him to shoot him and say "WTF AM I A FARMER" or more appropriate variant for this situation

Grandmother part was lol

Re: Justified: Season 3

is Quarles still gonna be sharp with that hidden gun while he's all doped up?

I imagine it malfunctioning somehow while he's really high and he'll just look down at his arm and giggle
