If they've already selected the new host, why bother with this? Why not go straight to them?

GL with the LeVar bet! Where did you find odds on next host?

There are a couple things that first can do here. Other than betting it all, there’s one more thing he should never do: betting anything between 1399 and 9001. He decided to bet 2800. Maybe he used a randomizer to get to that number?

Also quite funny that there was a triple stumper on a question about the Packers.
He was trying to hit 21(000)???

Lady is the one that bothered me. Late DD I think she could have doubled up for the lead. Instead she wagers about half and ends up in 3rd. If she missed her DD she is most likely toast.

Then she is in perfect place to wager small in FJ and she shoves.

I saw it somewhere online and convinced a gambling friend to take the bet.

BetOnline had a market for “next permanent Jeopardy host”, not sure if they still do.

FWIW, Aaron Rodgers mentioned an interesting point when he was asked how the permanent gig would even work with his NFL schedule. He said they are shooting 46 days a year and wouldn’t have to stick to the traditional way of shooting one day per week. Right now they are accommodating the guest hosts by shooting their episodes on back to back days. If they wanted to accommodate specific time constraints of the next permanent host, they could probably even go to something like 7 consecutive days every other month?

In case you guys haven't seen it, Jeopardy has announced that the ToC will be starting May 17th and hosted by Buzzy Cohen. We just wrapped filming yesterday; my quarterfinal match will be airing on May 19th.

I didn't see that, thanks for letting us know!

Looking forward to seeing you back on TV. You obviously can't share any details on what happens but I'm interested to hear if the overall experience is comparable to being on the regular show or is it more of an VIP experience?

Thank you for letting us know, Ryan. Future (to us) good luck to you (in the past)!

Also interested to hear your thoughts on the experience when appropriate.

Thanks guys! Obviously can't spoil any results, but I will say that Buzzy was fantastic and I could see him being a strong candidate for the permanent host gig.

We definitely got treated a little better than normal contestants. When you appear on the normal show, you have to pay for all your own travel expenses. For the ToC, they paid for first class flights for everyone (though I'm local to LA, so I didn't get to benefit from this), they put us up in the Culver Hotel, which was open only for us, and we also got a per diem check to cover food and other miscellaneous expenses.

tonights game lady gets the DD with one clue left after it.

scores are

(her) 5800
10,200
20,100

she wagers 2K (she had been doing well in the category and got the DD correct).

wtf is she possibly thinking???

She/they give absolutely zero thought to the actual game play of Jeopardy. It’s often as if maybe 15% of people on the show know they have to end up with the most money to win.

Ryan,

Shoulda taken them up on their first-class offer and flown to Vegas (or somewhere) and back.

It this comes to pass, it would mark the end of my Jeopardy! viewing.

While looking for details on madlex' post, I saw an article claiming they're increasing the consolation prizes to $5000 and $2000.

It was posted April 1, so there's that.

I’ve had a couple of run ins with him on jboard. While I appreciate what he does for the Jeopardy community, he also gets off on his perceived position of power. He is not near as important as he thinks he is.

If you read the entire article it’s quite obvious this is an April Fools joke.

I’m coming to the realization that I literally don’t care who the host is, they’re all fine...
I just love Jeopardy. Alex was good, but not once have I really been like “Boy this is trash without Alex”

New champ looked super familiar, I looked him up, he’s been in like 70 commercials and small parts here and there

We can finally tell you! Here is the final group of guest hosts to close out Season 37:

• Robin Roberts
• George Stephanopoulos
• David Faber
• Joe Buck
• LeVar Burton!

Somehow I’ve never seen or heard of David Faber...

The only David Faber I know of is (the original?) host of CNBC's morning show.

So on the news hosts side, the final guest host list includes multiple (former) employees/contributors from each of CNN, NBC News, ABC News and Bill Whitaker from CBS News.
