Hmm, when she was called Atilla (or whatever her story was), methinks it was the case where there was true hate behind it, not an affectionate joke.

It was better than her opening story about her credit card with a Kremlin background

Just thought of who she reminded me of

Delores Umbridge from Harry Potter.

Man, Meike was my favorite contestant I've seen in a long time.

Very tough FJ question, and tough wagering since all 3 were very close.

Basically 18k, 17k, 16k

Liked her a lot as well. Just watched Hidden Figures so FJ took about 0.38 seconds to solve. I thought the two older contestants would get it with no difficulty.

Unusually, all three wagers in FJ tonight were good.

+1 to the Meike love.

I can't recall hearing of the "Mercury Seven" before.

Triple stumper FJ from last week:

19th CENTURY EUROPE

Published in L'Aurore on January 13, 1898, it caused its author to be convicted of libel
How hard did you find that?

A couple (or at least I thought) of mistakes from Monday's ep:

1) There were two clues remaining in Jeopardy round and DD wasn't revealed yet. It was a 600 clue and a 1000 clue. The person selecting chose the 1000 clue, which wasn't the DD. Another person got it right, and then got the DD right as well. I thought this was a mistake as DD's are more frequent in the 3rd/middle row than the 5th/bottom row. After looking into a couple of DD season stats on J!Archive, they have the same amount of DD frequency in the first round. It's in the Double Jeopardy rounds where the DD is more likely to be in the 3rd row than the 5th row.

2) Last question in DD, which was for 2,000. 1st had 27,600, 2nd had 11,800. 2nd doesn't guess. GG.

I didn't find FJ that tough, but I'm a space nerd and was alive and aware in 1959.

Somewhat more difficult that the Mercury Seven for me, but nothing out of the ordinary. 73% of JBoard got it correct.

I'll admit the Mercury Severn is easier for a Yank than a Brit seeing as how it's a question about American History.

Is this 73% just the % of ppl that said they knew it, or is there some better way to verify the accuracy

It's an age thing, too. When the first 7 astronauts were named for the Mercury program, it was a huge news story. With Apollo and the moon missions, Mercury sort of faded from prominence. I'm old enough to remember it. If the clue had been a FJ in a Seniors tournament, I'd expect a triple get.

That was a ridiculously difficult and stupid Final J question.

+1 on wanting to know more details of the 73% number & how it compares to other FJs.

FWIW I got the J'Accuse answer but thought it was difficult. IMO

is a better phrasing. Gives an extra hint to get the contestant in the right direction but still requires good general knowledge.

Does anyone else think that Alex is in the wrong when he says things like he did in the recent episode where the defending champion got the daily double at the end of the DJ? Alex basically told the guy what to wager by noting how far behind he was and how there was only one clue left. In my opinion it would be like if a dealer said something like "there are now four diamonds on board and any diamond and makes a flush!"

% that said they knew it. But to use a slightly different metric, it was the easiest of the 5 last week according to that poll.

So no, it was not. By Jeopardy standards anyway.

Yes. But this is entertainment after all, and most contestants would still wager $2k after his statement.

Also, similar to the poker dealer analogy, the players are going to be fully aware of the current situation. So yes, from a fair game purity stand point he probably shouldn't say that, but practically speaking, it's really a non issue.
