This McPoyle storyline is incredible, lol at him sitting there stroking his pet like some sort of supervillain as he hacks GPS info and triangulates cell phone calls. I have no idea what they were intending for his character, is it supposed to be just over the top cheesy or what. I really have no clue how seriously this show takes itself
But I guess they were hinting at it for awhile. Don't really like that they did it but whatever. I would guess Frank is gay but then his whole thing with Zoe wouldn't make sense so just bisexual which they showed in season 1 when he went back to his college

Two moments that made me literally lol. 1. The punching bag in the Oval Office. Pretty funny considering how serious the previous scene was with the Pres and Underwood. 2. Meechum walking in on Frank watching porn. Just so awkward, yet funny how Meechum how can take his mind off it. I really like the Meechum character, besides the REALLY awkward 3 some. (Didn't see it coming at all, not really needed in my mind.)
With that said, the first episode was awesome and the next 2-3 episodes were great too, but from 5-8, the storyline between Underwood vs. Tusk vs. the President became rather stale. After that though it has become really good again.
Too bad they killed off Zoe and the whole investigation angle with Lucas and their other colleague. I really wanted to see where they would go with investigating on their own. I really thought they would go more into the Russo/Zoe murder investigation, but they kinda killed it off, obviously because of the power that Underwood has. (Maybe it comes back in Season 3?).
finished entire season. spoilers below, but i have a few questions for anyone else who's finished(towards the bottom, after review)
Spoiler:
it seems to be consensus that the first 3/4 episodes were really good. 1st was obv great, 2-4 were good, but maybe just because of anticipation more so than content since we haven't had new material in a while. will rewatch.
in hindsight i see how they set up the plot lines, but damn 5-8 were just boring. it got really good at 9 again when we got introduced to more freddy and got exposed to a little bit of his story/background. then 10-13 obv really really good too.
most awkward threesome ever tho. but hot lesbian scene right after made up for it.
just to make sure i'm on the right track.. the whole president getting impeached thing moved really fast to me. that was rushed so i don't think i grasped the entire situation(was distracted a little while watching too) but basically he was impeached because when the DOJ was looking into their actions, he tried to coach a witness right? then everything else between tusk/feng came out and tusk lied under oath as well about the president knowing?
just making sure i was on the right track about that. all kinda blurring together for me.

Spoiler:
!.)the reason he got impeached was because the house of reps had enough votes to remove him
2. the house had enough votes because underwood got his replacement whip to get the votes. Maybe that is the reason he picked her at the very beginning to get his spot
3.) the reason she got the votes was because her seat and many other democrats were close to losing their seats and the majority in the house if they didn't distance themselves from the president since underwood drove his approval ratings into the ground with the investigation
4.) he resigned when he saw he was gonna lose
Show has really dragged the last few episodes. The Tusk vs. Underwood thing being the entire plotline up to this point has run out of steam. It's just a really petty tit for tat, and we don't even fully understand what the end game here is. I thought it would only take up an episode, but so far it has dominated the last half of the season.
Also the whole Frank Underwood gets away with everything no matter what is getting kinda old. Yeah they hit Freddy, but that's about it.
Spoiler:
I've got the same impression. Makes it seem like Raymond and Frank are the most important people in the world and they're capable of manipulating everything. The fact that their adversaries seems so weak (a complain often heard on the first season) makes things even more unbelievable. I'm still watching all the episodes and being fully entertained, but the show definitely doesn't approach GOAT status.
Disappointing season of the show. The first episode was amazing, and the few that followed were exciting. After that it got wrapped up in the petty Tusk vs. Underwood thing... and Frank simply couldn't lose. He was invincible. The viewer hardly ever had any doubt about that.
Also, the Doug story was interesting/weird... I guess? Ok?
That the president would fall for Underwood's final ploy (the letter) despite being taken by him 123423 times and figuring out, in great detail, Frank's entire prior conspiracy seems like a step too far.
I was entertained by the show for sure and feel like it is overall a quality product, but it's certainly not on the same level as The Wire, Breaking Bad, Sopranos, etc.
I appreciate the fact that it's Shakespearean, and I certainly see the connections to Richard III. I just... I don't know. I finished marathoning it and, again, am writing this post late at night. Perhaps my thoughts will be different after sleeping on it, but I can't shake the overall feeling of disappointment.
Certainly dug it throughout, aside from the 5-8 slump, as others did. It was never going to be easy for them to keep up the pace and excitement of Ep1.
I get why they got rid of Zoe so fast, and honestly I didn't miss her (well, at least the entity she brought to the table. Will never forget dat ass and the rest of her.) Seemed pretty necessary with the chosen battles this season. They really did have to do it to do get to the next stage of the show. I'm sure another season of FU and Zoe would've been fine, but I appreciate the balls it took.
I have no idea which season I liked better. They're both equally good and easy to watch. High level 2nd tier, I believe.
