i forget if this was covered at the start of the season, but does carrie actually know saul's gf? who she is, the fact that she's sleeping with saul, and what her voice sounds like? it seems at least somewhat plausible that carrie does not know 1 or more of those things

i would agree that if she does know all that, its ridiculous she wouldn't mention it to saul

She knows who she is in terms of her position in the CIA (not that she is sleeping with saul) but Im certain she didnt know it was her who answered the phone.

Carrie does know Allison. Carrie doesn't know she's hooking up with Saul, and surely she doesn't know that was Allison on the Russian guy's phone - that's a HUGE piece of the puzzle that she would be talking about with Quinn, Saul, etc. She hasn't mentioned Allison once. It would be quite a stretch if Carrie had recognized her voice from hearing her just say a couple words on the phone , never mind that she was speaking in Russian.

I've said this ITTs about past seasons - Dar Adal sounds like something a housewife would take to treat Fibromyalgia.

QUINN
Haha.

At this point I think Carrie's character has almost ran it's course and she could/should die at the end of this season and Quinn could lead, you still have the likes of Saul & they can bring in a couple of fresh faces. I mean not many people thought the show could go on without Brody but it has done. With Carrie now it's just a repeating cycle of craziness & self hate/pity over and over.

Lack of Lockhart this season is a disappointment although understandable given it's mainly based in Germany.

Carrie went and met with her in ep 1. She may not recognize the voice but she def at least knows her.

As much as I love Quinn being Quinn, I thought the prison release was going to produce a far more significant storyline.

When Dar Adal and Saul had their argument in the office setting I felt confident they were putting on a show for Allison and for anyone in the office really. Like they are going to stage a falling out and double down on the Saul being suspicious. Ya know classic spycraft trope with the goal of rooting out the real mole. but then... Saul goes off book and there were too many scenes that seemed to be between just the audience and Saul being paranoid/flustered that I now can't see this being a Dar Adal/Saul counter spy maneuver. I'm sad. I like the idea of the two of them being like two steps ahead. I assumed their friendship and work experience had withstood greater challenges in the past. Maybe I'm wrongfully remembering the strength of their relationship. I can't buy into their argument being taken at face value. Whatever. Point I'm trying to make is that I don't like Saul going rogue or whatever to help Carrie uncover the mystery.

I was convinced it was all an elaborate set up by Saul/Dar, but they sold it well after the fact if it was. Then I was leaning more towards it only being Dar that is 2 steps ahead. In reality though I think the story lines are going to split and we will see Saul/Carrie vs the Russians and CIAREDLADY and a Dar/Quinn reunion with them vs these guys (terrorists?). Not even sure what these guys were, I am kind of thinking they are being sold as one of the off shoot groups that are possibly fighting against ISIS as opposed to being part of it.

^ I agree I can still see dar being ahead. Which sucks because we had always viewed Saul being the ultimate CIA boss.

My bad. I got the impression that she did recognize the voice and it was tilting the **** out of me, but ya I knew she didn't know it was Saul's chick, just threw that in there.

Grunching

What is this season like? Spoilerfree summary of what this season's theme is? Fwiw loved S1-S2, hated S3 but appreciated the plot-twist, thought S4 was highly entertaining but show had gone off the rails.

Feel the same, there have been a few things that have greatly annoyed me though. But I tend to forgive a lot when the acting is top notch and there are a few very well done characters (Saul, Quinn, Dar, and I'll reluctantly say Carrie).

And he passed the razorblade to the captured terrorist with a double handshake in S1

I'm sure they won't, but still holding out wishful thinking they will reveal Saul has been a Mossad double agent since day 1. That would be a transcendent plot twist for me.
