My impression is it was meant to be ambigous whether or not it was Saul. I agree it doesn't make much sense for it to have been him.

I mean obviously it's not Saul. That wouldn't make any sense and would be 110% ******ed. But they clearly meant it seem like the viewer would think that "OMG was that Saul?". That is just horrible and cheap writing.

Ill have to go back and look. I don't remember thinking "was that saul?" at all.

Maybe the code is longer than just Mathison. Maybe it's a protection order or a bring her in order or something.

yeah quinn should have finished decoding the message. his real target is "mathisop". he's gonna kill the wrong person.

and it wasn't saul dropping off the target

And maybe the reason it was a coded message is because whoever is behind it did not want the delivery man to know who it was.

I agree, and possibly the people behind it don't know Quinn is the hitman, otherwise they wouldn't either. Quinn is off the books & off the grid, right? Or they don't know their relationship, which is essentially the same. Quinn is not going "Well, gotta kill Carrie, what you gonna do?", right?

I think the point of having the woman he killed say "Peter" before he shot her was to let us know that he'll kill someone he knows. Now we'll have to wonder if he'll kill Carrie instead of instantly brushing it off and saying no way.

Pretty sure she said "bitte". The German spoken in the show is pretty good, they all seem to be native speakers.

Great episode - Quinn not flinching when putting 1 in her head was pretty awesome.

i think he changed his name to bitte when he moved to germany. the writers wanted to make it unclear if she was saying his name or please

She said to Quinn "please" before he shot her deed.

Lol at the writers tho, as if Quinn will kill Carrie this early into the season, but had to show him killing a woman jut before they sent him his next assignment.

if quinn's victim really believed that stuff she was preaching to the young girls she would have been happy when quinn shot her in the head and sent her to paradise.

i think the writer's were trying to make her an unsympathetic character. after quinn killed the little boy, they can't have him shooting a good woman in the face point blank

I'm not sure if Carrie is really his next hit, or just the next person he is supposed to watch. Even from talks within the agency they have shown, they have said she might have more info but they doubt she would do anything to betray her country. I'm guessing this is just more of a surveillance mission than anything, while finding a way to end this particular episode to increase drama ratings. We all know Carrie is not going anywhere.

isnt it obv? quinn gunna stalk carrie who is gunna get herself into trouble. and when it looks like she's doomed quinn gunna save her. this is followed by carrie asking why quinn was there after which quinn and carrie join forces to understand whats REALLY going on.

1) She clearly said "Bitte" (Please), not "Peter".

2) The first person going into the post office was definitely Saul, and there was no intent to imply any ambiguity.

3) There is no way Saul would request that Carrie be killed, even though he correctly suspects her of having contacts with Hezbollah. Assuming that the incomplete message was indeed meant to refer to Carrie, it must have been placed there by someone other than Saul without Saul's knowledge. Either someone in the CIA going behind Saul's back (knowing that Quinn can't really question the orders), or someone else who knows about Quinn's work and is using the opportunity to get rid of Carrie.

Also, the ambush in the camp was not the work of Quinn. Either it's two separate entities working with the common goal of eliminating Carrie, or it's the same people using Quinn as a backup plan, should Carrie successfully escape Lebanon.
