i don't get peanut gallery, cake walk, long time no see, no can do, basket case?
i totally understand people not liking overly pc stuff, but i feel pretty justified in being offended by "off the reservation"
obviously if someone says it without knowing anything, that's different.
Not at all trolling.
The peanut gallery was the cheap-seat segregation area in Vaudeville where black people were relegated.
Cake walks were sadistic rituals for slaves, who had to dance to win a piece of cake.
"Long time no see" and "no can do" were phrases meant to mimic Chinese people struggling to speak correct English.
Basket case originated during WWI for soldiers who lost their arms and legs and had to be carried around in baskets.
I didn't think about "off the reservation" before I wrote it, so I'm going to take that out of my personal dictionary from now on.
I'm not overly PC, but if something bothers somebody, it bothers them. It's easy for me to simply walk down the other side of the street.
