Re: The HBO series "Oz"

Why does season 4 have twice as many episodes as the other seasons?

Re: The HBO series "Oz"

I was reading the wikipedia page about this. Apparently some other HBO show got cancelled, and they came knocking on Oz's door requesting an additional eight to fill the now empty timeslot.

Re: The HBO series "Oz"

They also had to knock out the scripts pretty quick which is probably why, in the main, the latter half of season 4 is terrible. Including of course the infamous
Spoiler:
storyline.

+1

I know a correctional officer who works at Pleasant Valley State Prison in CA and he says Oz is mostly fake, and things dont work in real prisons the way its shown in Oz.

Ive talked to this officer many times while playing poker about prison life, what its like for inmates and guards, and he says Oz has way too much drama, the murders, the plotting, etc. to be considered an accurate portrayal of prison, at least CA prisons.

According to my CO friend, any "shotcaller" who gains too much influence over prison life, inmates, guards, etc is moved far, far away so he cant be a danger to anyone. Cant call the shots when ur not there to enforce anything

Oz is a drama show, plain and simple. Still an okay show though

Re: The HBO series "Oz"

skipped over thread, sorry, don't want many spoilers.

i just watched the first 4 episodes of Oz. it's pretty awesome, the only thing i hate is the narration. i hate how the guy in the wheelchair is the narrator for every character and it pans to him doing weird/crazy things like the camera panning around him while hes upside down. i would much prefer each character doing voiceovers for themselves, i just think it would of been alot more effective that way. either way, i'm only 4 episodes in but it's def really good/gritty/interesting. I may grow to like the wheel chair narrator guy.

I think Augustus is awesome as the narrator. You might grow into him and learn to like him more.

Re: The HBO series "Oz"

I've just got one episode left to watch now (the 100-minute series finale)... I'm in agreement with the concensus of this thread... there is indeed a sharp dropoff in quality starting in season 5... but overall this is a very watchable series.

Adebisi's was definitely the best.

He's chasing a guy through an abandoned industrial area/train tracks type place. The guy falls or whatever and Adebisi catches up to him. Guy flashes a badge and screams "Freeze, DEA!" and Adebisi laughs and insta-cuts his head off with a machete.
