The Sopranos was a far more psychological show - how people react internally. The Wire has never really covered this territory - at least not in the first three seasons.
They're both awesome. Putting one miles ahead of the other is just insane.
Claunchy - ty. Thanks for the spoiler, too - you're going to love it when Tony Romo gets shot in the head.
Also, once again, I have no clue why people insist on posting huge spoilers in a thread where someone is asking whether to watch a show.
|
I think/hope he was just messing with you. I don't think Claunchy is the type to be a dbag like that.
I already have all 3 discs of the first season at home now so I'll finish watching them and get the Wire, then resume Oz sometime after that.
|
a5 - claunchy and i have met irl - he's messing with me, obv, and i'm giving it right back. however, some poster went and explained a few storylines of oz up the thread.

I thought about the Wire, but I heard a lot of mixed reviews on it and it supposedly can be pretty slow

These people were lying to you, it is tv perfection.
|
I agree that it is very good, but S1 starts off very, very slow. No denying that.

Re: The HBO series \"Oz\"
Oz is a top-3 show, ever. The Wire is a Top 1 show, but still...
I like seeing the Oz actors getting new roles while I can't get their prison roles out of my head. Especially Schillinger.
And Hernandez getting that sitcom a few years back was just mind-bendingly weird.

Haha yeah definitely. I recently saw him in some movie where he plays a loving father. I couldn't help thinking "Whatever. Go rape and kill another dude, ya nazi."
Oz, at the very least, is an entertaining show. The show is the main reason I am now a law-abiding citizen. Shtt, after watching a few eps, I won't even J-walk.

Did you have the same problem with him as J. Jonah Jameson?

I had to google who J. Jonah Jameson was. But yes, I was subconsciously expected him to rape and stab Spiderman with a blade made out of a toothbrush.

On that note, it is my understanding that Omar features in the "Trapped in the Closet" videos.

Yes, that was clearly a fake spoiler just in case there are any lurkers who are planning to kill me right now.

Re: The HBO series \"Oz\"
*POTENTIAL SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO HAVENT SEEN OZ SEASON 1*
Not really because it was so early into season 1, but for those of you who haven't seen Oz and want to at some point stop reading now.
Why did they kill off Jefferson Keane? I thought he was an excellent character and the guy was a terrific actor whoever he is. I know the killings are supposed to be random but I don't think they should have killed him yet. He was a big staple of the show so far and made the show more interesting, IMO.
Blah, I guess I just hate it when my favorite character in a series gets killed. I also wasn't expecting it to happen so soon, but I knew it was happening at some point.

Can't have a Christ symbol without killing him. It also helped to establish Said as a leader of men.

Re: The HBO series "Oz"
Half the guys got killed in OZ because they had another role or personal obligation to fulfill. Or they didnt get along with the directors/writers/etc.
Some of the best acting ever on a show. Oz, to me, was more of a forum for acting than an actual show. Look at the success of so many who got a good start on Oz. Including many on the Wire.
I like The Wire for realism. Oz I enjoy for the acting which was so great.
