Spoiler:
Because Hannibal and Will were both in denial about their feelings/need for each other

Fuller's interpretation of the ending was really strange to me. Seemed obvious that

Spoiler:
she cut off her own leg and was waiting for Hannibal to show up.

Fuller says the scene hints at Hannibal surviving the fall, cutting her up, and her clutching the fork to stab him with it when he comes back in the room. wat?

Spoiler:
The table is set for 3 people, and one of the chairs is removed and placed in the corner. So the scene is hinting that one of the guests is in a wheelchair (maybe will) and there are multiple guests. And yeah she puts the fork down in her lap which she otherwise wouldn't do in the scenario you described. It is surprising Fuller came out to give his interpretation of the ending though, I thought it was meant to be slightly open-ended.

To go in more detail. There are 3 chairs at the table, but there are also only 3 place settings. The 3 place settings are at the two heads of the table (Hannibal/Bedelia), and the remaining place setting is at the part of the table that has the chair manually removed. The other chair is left at the table without a place setting to tell the viewers that there are specifically 3 guests there, one of which being in a wheelchair.

This was tweeted by a staff member during the finale

Kinda didn't notice it the first time but yes she does take the fork as if she is going to use it as a weapon.

Great ending to a great show.

RIP Hannibal, you died too young.

Considering no one ever dies on this show except anyone outside of the main cast, I'd buy that both Hannibal and Will survived that huge drop...lol. Even Chilton didn't die lol. Fairly sure if you went on a roll in a hot wheelchair at night, you'd die of shock before you ever hit the fountain.

The season ended up being really good overall even if the first 5 episodes or so (the ones before Red Dragon was introduced) were pretty much hot garbage that needed massive suspension of disbelief to get through. They should have just never aired any of those (just start it at the one before that, or put a 3 years later graphic in the first episode...anything but what it was), and the show would have remained elite. Instead the first several episodes just flushed the audience down the toilet.

Remind me again, what happened to Abigail? Her death was faked right, but then was she involved in any with the rest of the plot?

Hannibal kept her alive basically just to kill her in front of will (s2 finale) after he thought she was dead to further mind**** him. She also helped him as a defense from will/Jack/girl fbi psychiatrist whose name I can't remember during the s2 finale

I don't think Hannibal kept her alive intending to kill her. He actually did want to leave with her and Will and start their own little murder family iirc. Will betraying him = Dead Abigail.

Bump.

All 3 seasons of Hannibal are now available on Amazon Prime.

I'm on s3e3. With the wife out of town for work, it's been a helluva binge this past week. Watching this show solo in the dark on the 60" with the surround blasting is quite an experience.
I will say unequivocally Hannibal is elite. A work of art.

I just recommended that show to my brother but he did not like it for now (he just start to watch tv series that i told him to and goes with Narcos and Black Sail so i hope that after some time he should watch it). I watched it only one time with air dates but for sure after some time will marathon it with some gf. As far as i know there is not new show with such a tension in every episode, and for that i like it. With what show would u compare it that tension, very good acting and somehow the story?

Recently binged the end of S2 + S3. WOW. I'm going to miss this show. I love how they changed the story just enough to keep hardcore fans interested. So well done.

Bought the whole series on dvd for $25. Such a win.
