She's sure hell bent on going down on people this season.

Driver ripping Hannah apart with all her negative qualities was bang on.

And if you read back any of my posts you'll see hate after hate for Hannah.

But alas, after 5 full seasons, where if you try and forget the last 49 episodes of the series, you can say you might have actually liked her character tonight.

That's the great thing about the show. You can dislike Hannah almost always but then you like her in this episode. And she isn't out of character, it's a completely organic and natural thing that is believable for her character.

I really thought tonights episodes were wonderful. Really great. A great show firing on all cylinders.

Very good season, good last few eps, main thing I didn't buy is that Kylo Ren and whatsherface would fight over Hannah, give me a break.

Thought the season was great overall. I hate Hannah, but Lena Dunham as a writer is super talented. She is one of the few people who attempts to write something introspective and intelligent-sounding and actually accomplishes it.

in the end it was a great season. Not sure I've felt a bit of regret that Girls was over since maybe season 1.

Especially great, it being the 5th. Don't call it a comeback.

So, thoughts. I had never seen this show. I generally make sure to watch every "important" (critically acclaimed / hyped / OOTV-buzzworthy) show, but I'd postponed this one forever. I don't even know why, I just had a feeling I wouldn't like it and it'd be an ordeal to get through.

I watched all five seasons within about a week, pretty much doing 8 episodes every night (that was a LOT of naked Lena Dunham to endure at certain points), and I'd go on to say that this is the best show since The Wire. Yeah, I feel like this isn't going to be a popular opinion around here.

It's very hard for me to explain why I liked it so much. I'm a 29yo male from Scandinavia and I have very little in common with any of these characters, although I love Brooklyn and I guess being a part of the type of scene the show portrays is something I'd like to be a part of, and the whole twenty-something #firstworldproblems/creative struggles/relationship drama scene is something I can connect with. But mainly it's just the writing in the show that was above anything else I've seen on tv approximately ever.

The only times when the show hiccuped a little were when they took one of the characters out of New York. The Hannah-centric episodes where she went to visit her parents and especially the Iowa parts were the worst. I wasn't a fan of the Jessa/Hannah at Jessa's dad's place stuff either.

I wasn't super convinced about the show after the first few eps, I thought the pilot especially was quite underwhelming. But it picked up when they gave Adam a personality, made Ray an actual character and introduced Elijah for comic relief.

As a guy who's always had a lot of girlfriends (as in, female friends) from this age group, it was very interesting to follow the main characters in the show. There are soooo many mannerisms/impulses/traits/thought processes that the "Girls" in the show had that were exactly like something girls I know would have. This type of hedonistic, narcissistic uber-selfishness in girls isn't really portrayed a lot in tv shows and I found the writing incredibly refreshing in this regard.

Another thing that annoyed me a bit was that there were just way too many moments throughout the show where someone hooks up with someone in a heat of the moment scenario completely sober. Like when Marnie goes to Ray's for the first time for advice etc. I'd suspect that's not a huge deal if you're watching this show once a week for 10 weeks a year, but it really stuck out marathoning it. It just isn't realistic imo that everyone hooks up with everyone in their somewhat tight/small circle of friends without any kind of thinking all the time. Sure, put a few of those in, but there was just too much of that stuff and in the later seasons I found myself going "oh god it's gonna happen again isn't it?" pretty much every time when they had a male and a female character alone in a room having some deep conversation.

Allison Williams is incredibly beautiful, and Jessa would make for a GOAT hate****.

Actually, Jessa's character development annoyed me a bit too. I think they spent a little too much time on her being just a complete bitch without any sort of decency. The only time they even tried to portray why she's such a mess was that dad abandonment episode in the countryside and that wasn't anywhere near enough to justify how terrible she is. She was alright in season 5, but I think they wasted a lot of time on her just being completely irritating and should have arrived here sooner.

I like Adam+Jessa together more than Adam+Hannah, although my favourite scene of the show was Hannah OCDing and Adam running through the city to save her (last scene of S2 or S3 I think?).

I'm not buying the Marnie+Ray pairing, I would really have wanted to see it play out so that Shoshanna is the love of Ray's life. I think Shosh and Ray had great chemistry, and Ray balances Shoshanna's absurd features so well and vice versa, but I don't really see the Ray+Marnie thing.

Lastly, I think Lena Dunham is an incredible talent and I hope this show will continue for a few more seasons.

For some reason I don't have any idea of how I'd rank the seasons in my head, it's a bit blurry to me which season was which, as I watched it just as a big continuum. It's another great thing about this show, it really didn't have clear season-long archs, it's just an ongoing story. But I think I liked S5 the most, and the worst was the season with the Iowa stuff which I think was 4? Basically I think the show had a bit of a slow start, then was superb until Iowa/Marnie&Desi era which was a drop in quality, and then became great again on S5. Roughly.

I only read about 20% of this thread, but felt the need to post.

I liked it a lot even though I'm a senior. Reminded me of Seinfeld shows. I knew a girl like Hannah so it seemed pretty realistic to me. My favorite secondary character was Mimi Howard manipulative to the Core

"nice"

Nice episode. Needed more Elijah, as always. And I mean of course we could have done without the absurd amount of Hannah nudity, but whatever.

Agreed, I thought that was a great scene. I imagine some expert like nunnehi might come in and explain how it wasn't that good because it hit us over the head with over the top sappiness, and I couldn't really disagree with that, but I still thought that scene was really well done.

This can only mean one thing: Stan Lee is the real writer for Girls.

Nunnehi seems to have tucked tail and run sometime around the Westworld finale.
