Re: Girls on HBO

Banged through this a week or so ago (I see that last week it was nominated for five emmys, all for Dunham). I actually liked it even though it seemed to weave back and forth indiscriminately between legit, believable, astute observations on women's behavior and totally implausible, deliberately off-the-wall behavior. Specifically, I liked that the Dunham character wasn't written to be likable, although I still have a hard time resolving that she and Marnie are believable BFFs given the rather large gap in their levels of attractiveness.

Regarding these two, one thing I tried to look up but didn't have any success with - she owned Marnie a bunch of back rent, and then Marnie moved out on her. How exactly does that work itself out without Marnie getting hosed on the lease? They never really explained (that I recall) how she could just bail on the living arrangement. Not a big deal but it confused me at first.

It's very likely I'm missing something obvious and/or unimportant.

I'd say this is standard, but I live in the burbs. Might be different in a city.

Re: Girls on HBO

Girls probably isn't a favorite to win any, but none of the nominations were undeserved, imo.

Possibly not a coincidence that a forum full of guys connects with the male characters more than the girls....?? Although I do agree that Adam killed it and I'll be disappointed if he's not a part of season 2.

This show would be a lot better if Marnie was getting naked and not Dunham.

Re: Girls on HBO

Didn't realize the second season debuted tonight til I saw that preview, thanks. Unsurprisingly the Williams daughter looks hotter. Too bad she won't do n00dz.

Didn't see the post directly above when I made mine, heh.

After watching the trailer, I don't think I'm at all interested in this.

Most of the reviews I've seen have said s2>s1.

Re: Girls on HBO

It was pretty good.

I think the novelty is wearing off though. Novelty is too strong of a word, but there are aspects of the show that are going to grate on me. I'm expecting for that to be flipped by the end of the season though.

Ms. Williams won't wear off on me at all. She looked incredible throughout this one.
