I'm partway through season 1. Does the previous episode air before playing the next round? It seems from some of their comments, the players have watched the episodes.

Yes. At least some of the time - in season 3 someone asked another person if they'd seen last week's broadcast.

Edit: Hmm, maybe I misinterpreted that question though. I don't remember the phrasing of the question, but last week's broadcast doesn't necessarily mean that they'd broadcasted the most recent round the week before. Up until that episode I had operated under the assumption that they were at least 3 weeks ahead of the broadcasting due to ... Certain stuff :P

S2E1

Spoiler:
Holy looooooool... Hweejong is like the Jessie Godderz of "The Genius".

I found the game pretty interesting. I'm definitely intrigued by what people ITT think is the optimal strategy for playing the Chameleon (which is the worst possible draw IMO).

My initial reaction was to go for the Snake disguise, and I'd probably still stand by that even though it didn't work out well in results.

All in agreement that Crow and Snake are the best possible draws?

Rollercoaster of emotions

That's the highest high for me yet when Doohe betrayed Sangmin and used the power item to replace himself as an elimination candidate. It's a move that you'll see on Survivor or Big Brother easy, but it didn't seem AT ALL like these Koreans had it in them. So strong.

I was loudly laughing in excitement and then... HOLY ****!!! It's fake! Even higher high, that's just amazing. Brilliant idea by the producers.

But I was very saddened by Doohe getting eliminated. It's his own fault though in the end, so whatever. This is shaping up to be a repeat of season 1 where Jinho is once again on the outs after having lost his closest ally. That's fine by me - only makes it all the more satisfying when he hopefully wins again :P

As a general point, the flagrant string betting in all of the poker death matches never gets less tilting.

Yeah I should have realized they show a preview of the next episode at then end so there is a lag, but in S1E10 they clearly discuss the broadcast, so it is aired while still filming. This is nice because it means there is no "winner edit" like other reality shows.

S2E4
Spoiler:
That bus was pathetic by Doohee and Yoonyung. "I don't think he was decisive" lol gmafb. People already don't trust those two and burning the guy who put his neck on the line to help you win+pissing off Jinho really can't help them.

Jinho and Sangmin are just levels above everyone else at this point. Hongchul is also pretty awesome.

Till S2E8

Spoiler:

Sangmin has really stepped up his game after the first couple of eps. He's controlling the show and making great strategic decisions within games too which I would've considered his weakest point. In this episode he correctly used Garnets to secure a win. Most other players had piss poor strategies though, I don't know why multiple players are trying to collect -30's and doing a piss poor job at it, or why someone would buy -23 on the very first go.

Even though the fake idol was producer supplied Sangmin tried to use it perfectly setting Dohee and Jinho vs. each other. Had Dohee not been massively butthurt it would've worked.

Jinho's nemesis Yohwan has failed to stand out so far, but with his background he's probably gonna be a favourite in death matches vs. anyone unless the other players play a big part.

S2E6 was awesome. Even though a couple of posters had written wow outside the spoilers so I was expecting some big twist, it still delivered. The show really has awesome editing.

S3E1

Spoiler:
--Fistpumped way too hard upon seeing Hweejong back and slammed my elbow into my desk.

--At this point no one is standing out as overly worse than the rest of the cast the way the politician and Jiwon did, which is good, although Dongmin's gotta be pretty close to drawing dead despite seemingly decent game sense. He reminds me of a much worse (at the larger game) version of Kim Gura from S1.

--Kyunghoon sniping all the points in round 4 seems atrocious if he wasn't in direct danger of losing or tying for last, which I don't think he was.

--Black vs. White II is probably my favorite death match game to date from all seasons

--Rooting for Hyunmin despite not being able to look at him without seeing Asian Arya Stark, which I mean in the least disrespectful way that one can compare the face of an adult male to that of a 13-year old girl.

This "count to 10" game was one of my favorites so far. Sunggyu/Sangmin is one of my favorite reality alliances of all time, and I really hope one of them ships this thing. Jinho is brilliant, but they're running laps around him strategically.

I have my first potential gripe with the show.

Season 2 Episode 4.
Spoiler:

At the end of the episode they flash to 2 hours earlier where we see Jinho and the hacker(who's name escapes me) are in a room and figure out where the safe that contains the immunity token is. I like seeing that people are looking for the token, but since this show is broadcast during the filming of the show, aren't the producers inadvertently revealing the location of the safe to the rest of the players? Doesn't this defeat the purpose winning clues and searching for the token until you're confident you have enough info to find it?

Through the S1 finale...

Spoiler:
Jinho was certainly a worthy winner. I think he likely played the third best overall game, but it's tough to argue with his performance in the death matches. I'm guessing most of us are very math-oriented, so I'm assuming I'm not the only one who was absolutely terrible at the "match 3" game. I was using the same strategy as Jinho, and I still could only get ~2 per round. The game itself is fair and very intriguing, it just seems so much different than a lot of the other death match games. Maybe that's a good thing, though.

On to season 2!
