Sure you might expect that anyways in a show but knowing it is different. Also gives you time to think and work things out because now you know instead of you're wondering. There is a million other things going on and it's more than just Phil but I won't go into them because it's just more spoilerish.

This issue has been beaten to death. I just wanted to reiterate in hopes dids gets back to work and bans the rest of the dinglebarries ITT.
lol you are a crazy person. Saying "I can't wait for next weak" is about as much of a spoiler as me telling you the next episode advances the current plot. Guess what, next season similarly advances the plot. I CAN"T WAIT FOR NEXT SEASON!!!!

I'll finish this first book and see how long I can hold out. If I can make it to the NFL season then surely I can get distracted enough to not bother cracking open book 2. Another reason to hope the lockout ends soon, lol. I think I can hold out.... I want to.

Re: Game of Thrones SPOILER FREE THREAD

I might not read the books before Season 2. I have a dozen unread books as is, not much point to buying more, especially when I'll be able to download the "books on HBO" version of this one in 2012.

Only thing is, I'm not sure which will be more enjoyable to experience unspoiled: the books or the show.

I get why fanboi book readers thought this was awesome, but from a TV show perspective, the story telling has been getting lazier and lazier.

also, pretty big LOL who didn't see the dragon stuff coming, they only mentioned that shes the dragon and immune to fire like 40 times.
Sigh... you guys don't even bother to follow whats going on.

That is the original post I quoted in which a non book reader clearly states how a book reader saying that did in fact lead his thinking and alter his enjoyment of the show.

Re: Game of Thrones SPOILER FREE THREAD

The casting director for this show is a goddamn champion. I mean, jesus, she had to deal with several crucial child roles not to mention a freaking dwarf and absolutely everyone nailed their part this season.

Yeah this can't be said enough. Kid that plays Joffrey has been especially excellent. Hate hate hate.

It seems these simple concepts escape these people.

They need to read more books imo.

I want to make lots of witty comments regarding reading and how stupid all of the recent non book readers have been but there are actually a lot of really smart non book readers ITT. They just don't seem to be posting right now.

Darn them.

Probably going to start with book 2 because I dont want to read 700 pages to get to new stuff.

I think the show. The wait is the only issue. If I could snap my fingers and have the rest of the show available to watch or read the books it would be a trivial choice since I'm such a philistine. TVVVVVVVVV.

It's the season finale. Has anyone who has ever liked a show been like "meh, whatever, I don't really care" in regards to a finale? Seriously, crazy peple itt.

I'm like 550ish* pages in. I would recommend reading the book but there doesn't seem to be much extremely crucial that you miss out. You miss a ****load of detail, backstory, in-the-mind stuff. Hard to say how big the problem may or may not be guess you'd need to ask peeps who have read more than me.

* The PDF I erm acquired doesn't have page markers lol

I know how you feel and you won't be completely lost reading book 2 having only seen the show but there are enough changes from book to screen that you will be scratching your head asking yourself " Who are these people ? "

If I were you I'd buy book 1 just in case you're too bothered by it which I think you will be.

Re: Game of Thrones SPOILER FREE THREAD

Imsa, starting with the second book and just going off the show you will definitely be fine but reading the first book obv wouldn't hurt for background stuff etc.
