Didn't they plan on aging the characters by a few years in the TV show?

They mention Sansa was 13 in Ep1. Was she 11 in the book?

Yeah, they aged them all up. Bran is said to be 10, when in the book I'm pretty sure he's 7. I like the choice. They all seemed a little young for what was going on with them, especially Robb and Sansa. At least 13 is somewhat believable in turns of marriage, or at least more believable than 11.

They also had to use actors that were older since a 7 year old can't spend enough time working. I'm pretty sure danny is significantly older in this as there is no way they are going to call her 13 and then show tits.

Pretty big deviation from the plot, right? That first night in the book really set the groundwork for how they could develop a loving relationship despite the cultural differences, and his fierce nature. That, of course, makes it so powerful when she has to kill his brain-dead remains. I suppose they can have their relationship start like this and still end up in the same place, but I don't understand the reason for the change.
