My wife who is one of those people who inexplicably loves the Walking Dead, even season 2, turned to me after this last episode and said, "this show isn't that good"

Congratulations FTWD you broke her and not even the worst of the Walking Dead could do that.

it's tough sledding for FTWD bc it's basically TWD, only with characters and settings that nobody has gotten attached to. so unless they came out very strong, it was going to seem worse.

and I generally agree that they didn't come out very strong, although I think it's generally been less dumb than TWD. TWD from the very start had some big personalities and that got people hooked. here everyone seems to be a little too vanilla

only fast forwarded through season 1 but it reminded me of a 1990s made for tv movie. it was like pg-13 walking dead on a low budget.

The last episode was pretty good imo. Strand isn't ****ing around, didn't think he would cut that rope. Didn't expect that. I was thinking something would happen to the raft and that girl would be forced to come aboard. I suspect that main chick (what's her name again?) will go all carol on strand and eventually kill him some how and take over the yacht

the brother and sister hugging before getting on the raft while running from the "zombies" was incredible. i wish i could have been in the writing room when they came up with that gem.

That was by far the dumbest writing choice in the episode. I was cringing. I can understand maybe a quick "relieved you're ok come on let's go" hug, but that prolonged embrace was just dumb.

I found this episode to be thoroughly non-terrible. The kids are more interesting than I thought they'd be, especially based on the way they were portrayed last season. It has a long way to go before it's more than just the TV equivalent of a page turner, but it most definitely could've been a lot worse.

Can someone clarify how many episodes there'll be this season? I thought I heard something about "only.....episodes left" as the credits rolled, but we're only on episode 4. Will there be a mid-season break ala WD, or is this again a shortened season?
